This is why when they claim no one alive today was ever a slave, I point out things like this. We ain’t too far removed. My grandparents parents were on those plantations. My grandparents’ grandparents were slaves. My grandparents grew up in Jim Crow. Slavery was yesterday.

All this only reminds me of the fact that slavery wasn’t a million years ago. That just happened a couple days ago.

One that gets me is, Anne Frank, Martin Luther King Jr and Barbara Walter’s were all born in 1929. Barbara is the youngest of the three. Betty White was 7 when they all were born.

The civil war ended 1865 and the moon landing was 1969 so a person born a slave could’ve seen a man on the moon and the “I have a dream” speech(1963)

The older we get, the more we understand, "A day is like 1000yrs and 1000yrs is like a day" I always believed it, but somehow the older you get, you UNDERSTAND how it could be, rather than just believe it. 😮

I think of random stuff like that too. I'm 44 years old. 40 years ago Michael Jackson did the moonwalk for the first time. 40 years before that we were at the height of WWII 😮

The same folks who want to tell you thats all in the past will then turn around and do a civil war reenactment.

Yeah. We literally just got off the plantation. It is a critical time for Black people and we're not doing well. It's the music and media ! Wake up.

I met President John Tyler's grandson years ago. He told us the story how his grandfather had his dad very late in life and how he was born very late in his father's life.

Also in the early 2000s, I worked in local TV news. We had an anchor who interviewed a Richmond, Virginia woman who's father was born into slavery. He had her late in life. The daughter has since passed on

But people will insist slavery was a long time ago and no one today benefits from slavery

My grandmother was born in 1893… I was born in 1970. That blew my mind!

That's how I feel. My grandfather and some of his children were alive during the 1800s. That means my family previous generation was alive in the 1800s, and I'm still in my 30s, lol😊

My great grand parents would of been around 11 or 12 when Harriet Tubman died.😮 That's sobering because they helped to raise me and my siblings. The oldest sibling is 56 youngest 43. We were preteens-teens when they died in the 80s
