Now I want to see the Vulfpeck drummer do a Sepultura track

EDIT: Or maybe a Slipknot track?

I hate that he says he "ruined the song". I think this was one of the best one of these videos in the whole series. His take was so clean and still really funky and groovy. I thought he did an amazing job.

Dude came up with a 100% harder take on the song and really worked his ass off to make it right with a big smile in his face.

Honestly, I don't know how anyone could watch this video and not instantly become a lifelong fan of Eloy Casagrande. Even if you don't like metal at all. What an exemplary human and exceptional musician!

I'm a massive Vulfpeck fan and been a drummer for 14 years, and that was a good take in my opinion! Yeah he may have played too loud for the low volume funk that Vulfpeck is, but it was very groovy, the ride cymbal part he did was amazing, very creative and he didn't overplay it, no massive fills or double bass here. Kudos to him! I also used to play a lot of metal, so i know how different it is to Funk.

This guy is far too humble. He was right in the pocket for his entire final take. Probably one of the best of these I've seen.

Its awesome how well he was able to adapt his style to a completely different genre.

Eloy is the real deal! People don't realize how well rounded he actually is. He transcended the "metal" stereotype a long long time ago, even though he loves to talk himself down but in reality there's not much he couldn't play with accuracy and authenticity. What an accomplished musician!

So did anyone notice that between the first take and final was only like half an hour... based on Brandon's phone. Eloy got that performance in under an hour.

Gotta be honest, this is my favourite 'for the first time' vid. Hearing the snapshots of the learning process really supported the notion that 'the more you practice the better you get', his passion for not doing any disservice to the track was beautiful, and frankly Eloy, you did a magnificent job.

A drumeo vid about vulfpeck is probably one of the least expected yet greatest Christmas gift ever

This guy is so humble and awesome. He's so nervous and worried about getting it right and at the end he says "Please don't send me any bad comments, I'm sorry, I ruined the song" and I'm sitting here thinking dude, you're the drummer of Sepultura. You did an awesome job with your interpretation and you play crazier shit on stage than I could ever dream of even imagining. Great job man, you didn't ruin anything.

I had the opportunity to study drums with the master Alexandre Aposan at EMT in São Paulo, the same place where Eloy was also teaching.

One day, me, Aposan and another student were talking between the classes, when we heard someone playing drums in another room. The other guy asked Aposan if it was Eloy and he simply replied “Nah… if it was Eloy, the building would be shaking”.

Eloy, I really hope that you get to read this.
We got nothing but love for you. You did awesome here. Ruining the song? Never, you interpreted it your own way, that's the point of the exercise, and I must add that you did wonderfully here.
You are so humble, but we all know what a great musician you really are. Hats off to you my friend. You the man.

I had not heard of Eloy or Sepultura before this video, but I'm a huge Vulf fan. I enjoyed this immensely!

As a percussionist, I understand the feeling of tearing myself down when I've felt that didn't immediately nail a groove, as Eloy playfully mentions a few times here. But he was a very thoughtful interpreter, and was able to tune into subtle elements without any hints. Knowing to keep that 16th note feel on the HH throughout. Building gradually through the pre-chorus and the bridge. Adding half-measure fills right before the hits. Even deducing hits as hits. (It was also just cool to hear fills and ornamentations that move around the kit a little more than on a typical Vulf song.)

I really respect Eloy's musicianship & his ability to cater to the song regardless of his background! This is a great series to demonstrate these exercises, and to prove that polarities don't always have to interfere with the integrity between a piece and its player. Thanks for this video!

Incredible how he learned all those nuances in just a few takes, as a drummer myself I think this was the most difficult song I've seen on any of these "drumeo first time" series

If you had told me that he’s a funk/ soul drummer, I wouldn’t have doubted that he wasn’t one. His dynamic, his sounds are just right.

Not gonna lie, that final take was pretty dang good. Great mix of groove and rock drive and power!

Awww, you can tell his a perfectionist. He was so worried and nervous, but he did so well with a great version of the drums that was surprisingly similar
