New MPC Studio Review

Welcome to my new MPC Studio review. While Akai Professional did send me this unit to review, all thoughts and opinions expressed are mine and mine alone. Here at Free Beat, a favorable review cannot be purchased nor bribed, it must be earned. Today I'm reviewing the new MPC Studio from Akai. This is a MIDI controller designed specifically for the MPC software, which is included with the controller. Let me know if you have any questions that I might not have answered in the review, and enjoy the video :)

Good point about how this device is not for current mpc users (Live X or One). A lot of the people who I see saying they don't like this unit appear to be people who already have an mpc

Possibly the most honest and well structured review I have seen for ages. I have an MPC One and so have no desire to get this device. But if I was just getting into the MPC workflow and was laptop based I would almost certainly buy it. Nice one Sir Freebeat.

Good review, you covered a lot of important stuff that I think gets glossed over.
Just wanna add: I feel like the fact that MPC Software can run as a VST in other DAWs isn't talked about enough. You might wanna try that out with the MPC Studio + Ableton and see how it works for you!

Very good review, really enjoyed it. If I didn't just get an MPC One I would have gotten a Studio based on your video hehe

Build
Midi functionality etc... ^^

I lost it when you started finger drumming on the buttons!

The MPC is basically a laptop with pads and buttons anyway. Boot up times and steps to go through before starting to make music is a pain. I understand this is a trade off for all the features you get but it’s nice to pick up almost anything else turn it on and start playing immediately.

I hoped it could work with a One as an expander, those pads would’ve been nice

11:50 😂 EXCELLENT Review!! 👍🏻💯 Thank you also for trying the combination with the MPC ONE! I wish, this would work with future firmware upgrades.

Great review. Can you Open the MPC software in Ableton? That way it could work better.

Great review, is there any standalone midi drumpad controller that sends chords data to hardware synths via classic midi jacks? Apart from expensive MPC one etc.. Thanks

Thank you for the video. Quick question: Are you saying that if you have the MPC One, Live 2, or the X, you can use it in controller mode? If so, then there's nothing the Studio MK2 can do that the aforementioned MPC's can't do? Thank you. Blessings!

So I already have an MPC One, and just got in to using the software on a PC, which I kind of like - but - I've just bought the Studio too, its intended to sit on the PC in question as a dedicated controller, allowing me to move the MPC one around, take it with me when I work away etc, so I'm intrigued, am I going to hate the Studio? Let's see!
