What I have learned from this: Athena was victim blamer and Hestia is the least problematic of _all_ of the Olympians

And this is why Lady Hestia is one of the best Olympians.

For the goddess of wisdom, Athena has some strange ideas

In earlier myths Medusa was actually born as a gorgon, the myth was changed a bit to make the gods look like humans were nothing but playthings to them

We Stan Hestia for keeping her sanity when this is her family

Again, really weird to hear “ATHENA!” While being named after her

This kinda thing is why I prefer the older versions where Medusa wasn't transformed at all and was just always a scary -hot- monster.
That and the very notion of Athena victim-blaming a victim of assault is proven wrong by earlier texts where she viciously punished Ajax the Lesser for assaulting Cassandra.

“I would never do anything to hurt that woman”
You’ve done EVERYTHING to hurt this woman

There’s an alternate interpretation of this myth, where Athena knew Poseidon would be angered if she didn’t “punish” Medusa, so to protect her from future attempts to assault her, she gave her the power to turn men to stone. Athena, after her death, was so saddened that it just made her a target, that she put her head on her shield to inflict her wrath on men. This is why some women’s abuse shelters have Medusa’s head as an emblem.

Athena: Now nobody will want to force themselves on her.

Me: I would like to show the goddess our internet.

"I ran out of stickers and I've heard that dead heads are all the rage, these days."
- Athena, probably

“Athena, this is exactly why I associate you with war instead of wisdom. You’re an absolute halfwit.” -Hestia

You sure Athena's not related to Hera?

Medusa is a unique case for Athena. For us, we could interpret Athena's actions as punishment but it would be more in line with deterrence. Technically Athena did help her.

"No, you don't understand! Now that she's dead, no one will try to force themselves on her. Problem solved! You're welcome 😇"

Athena's logic is the same as, "Did you see what she was wearing? She was asking for it!"

She wanted a hideous shield and made an overly elaborated plan to get it. Classic Athena

it kinda bugs me how people always think of Atyena as this 100% good olympian god, cuz it seems to me that she's more like a morrally gray character, always thinking logically and giving no considerations to emotions or morals that resulte to some questionable actions
