How To Set Up Eye Auto Focus On The Sony a6000

The Sony a6000 has powerful feature called Eye Auto Focus, allowing the camera to locate and focus on your subject's eye. Unfortunately this feature is disabled upon unboxing your Sony a6000 and requires you to customize on of the buttons of your camera to enable Eye Auto Focus.

In this video Kyle Perison, who works alongside Gary Fong, shares how to customize the AEL button of your camera to active Eye Auto Focus.

You mentioned putting this on the AEL button and holding it in while pressing the shutter.  If you have set up the AEL as back button focus and disabled focus on shutter press and put eye auto on the C1 button is it necessary to hold it down while shooting or can you press to focus on the eye then just take the shot with the shutter providing your subject doesnt move.

Thanks for the video, I heard that when you use the eye focus it also exposes for the eye too, is that true? I'm thinking this could be very handy when shooting portraits where there is strong backlighting

Nice tutorial... Now there is only one question - not to the video author, but to Sony - if someone is reading forums there...
Why don't make Eye AF automatic with face detection ? Can you think of any situation when one would want to detect the face, but not focus on the eyes ?
