Wow wow wow, Chris! What a beautiful set of mallets! And again, your craftsmanship astounds me. I would have broke down and used the miter saw and table saw almost immediately. I love that spalted maple handle, gorgeous! But the other elements that you put into each one really set it off from the typical "pretty mallet" build... like the hand-made brass transition and the protruding wedged mortise with the chamfer. But mainly it's just a stellar choice of wood that sets it apart from the rest, you really made some awesome decisions and the design is perfect. I was so excited to see my sticker slapped up on your cabinet! Thanks for the shout out! I just hope I can live up to the hype, haha! Give Utz another bone from Fisher's Shop. :)

Hey Chris, gorgeous mallets! One advice, the Germans have a saying which translated means "Life is too short to drink a low quality wine." Thus, we can apply the same idea to your mallets. Just use them and enjoy them. As they get older, thru normal use, they will reveal their true beauty. Cheers. :)

One of those would be an awesome gift for your friend who is teaching you how to use the lathe. Nothing better than giving back to a friend.

The worst thing about finding channels like yours (and there are not many) is that after a day or so I've watched everything - I can't stop.

Sensational work from the design to the finish. Congratulations.

Absolutely the most stunning pair of mallets I have ever seen, and I am 70 years old. Excellent craftsmanship! This two mallets warrant art exhibit showcase.

This whole time I've been living in Mid Michigan and had no idea there was a club! After this whole Rona stuff calms down I look forward to attending a meeting!

Poor Utes looks so sad at 1:34. You've obviously done a great job training him. Mallets look fantastic, and I really appreciate your mix of hand and power tools.

Definitely the maple headed one. The spalted handle looks so cool, but from a structural standpoint, that spalt just ain't gonna last

Beautiful. Both are beautiful. I don’t know how else to describe them.

Great work man!

Quick tip on filing/rasping from the machinist world:

They only cut on the push stroke. Putting your focus on controlling the push stroke, and lifting the file/rasp off the workpiece on the pull will give a much cleaner cut (not that yours looked bad or anything!) and prolong the life of your tool.

Try pushing with a long stroke and a twisting motion around a radius.

Cheers from Victoria, BC!

Your very easy to listen to, your level craftsmanship inspiring and your videos are so well put together! Keep doing what your doing.
