It was so weird watching this without a gripper ad spot at the start of the video.

This vid is 11 years old and I have a mallet as I made that one, I have a clamp rack as I followed yours. This channel is the best woodworking channel as Steve shows how to make things, not hey! see what I made? Your channel made woodworking achievable, not out of reach. I'm going back to all your vigs on building. Thank you for all your work

Very rare to find a woodworker that isn't old and boring.
I'm subscribing.

I had planed on buying a heavy beach mallet from woodcraft until i saw this video, i really like the idea of this type of mallet and I wish I had found your video series a long time ago. Your projects are simple but very nice looking and you are not pretentious like a lot of the "fine" woodworkers. You are down to earth and I like that. You have really gotten me excited for some projects. Thank you for doing what you do.

I really appreciated you showing proper safety precautions when using your table saw.  I can't believe how often I see really dumb stuff that people not only do, but feel free to post for the whole world to watch!  Well done...

Ah Steve, Steve, Steve... You are so unapologetically merely mortal in your approach. Please never change.

I watched this video years ago. Recently I bought a bunch of new tools (axes, mattocks, chisels, etc) to give to my nephew and spent the day sharpening them all. There was just a ton of metal on the ground so I picked it up with a magnet and I've been sacing a small collection of metal powder wondering what the heck I could possibly use them for. Just now I remembered watching this video and remember that Steve weighted the head of his wooden mallets with metal. I never made a mallet before and so now I'm thinking I finally figured out a good use for all this!
Thank you Steve, I'm excited to put your techniques to use.

This is the only channel in which I like the video before watching it. Great job!

This was really helpful. I have seen these elaborate tenon jigs. This made it make sense!

I like how the head is made with the sand or lead shot. That's basically how a plastic dead blow mallet works. It probably has very little bounce when you strike something and imparts almost all its force into the object. Very nice. Thanks for providing the video.

Gee thanks... As if I didn't have enough projects already awaiting my attention, it looks like I'll be adding this to my "to-get-to-soon" short list. I've been in the market for some decent [yet inexpensive] mallets. My search has come to an end. Thank you sir.
