My second ever attempt at blacksmithing a knife, today I'm making a Karambit out of a 21mm wrench from home depot, using my:

My end product is a little underwhelming, but as long as you use a bigger wrench you should be fine. Special thanks to Chandler Dickinson, whose videos have educated me more than high-school ever did.

Blacksmithing song:
Wake Up - Nathan Weber

Song 3:

just to confirm, karambits ARE suppose to be tiny. if you follow the traditions. the are suppose to mimic a tiger's claw. and its tiny because its suppose to be concealed from the whoever is receiving stabs from it.

I did body shop in high school now your getting my Hammer and dolly hand anxious & jumpy searching for tools. :) thanks for your honesty goes a long way for a viewer to assimilate with failure and makes the viewer be able to make the best of what could of been a trashed project to anyone else who doesn't realize the leftover potential.

That was a nice explanation of where you hit it and why. And flea market wrenches as a source of quality steel is a good idea too, though it is probably air hardening tool steel. Traditional karambits were sharp on both edges, but possession of one is a felony in many states. double edged weapons are classed as dirks and daggers. That is why many knives have a false second edge.

I would prefer an even smaller blade. It is less visible, and the curve of a karambit dives into the meat it cuts. If you anticipate actually using it, a smaller one would not kill an opponent, which would complicate your life. The most deadly knife fighter I ever knew preferred a knife about 1 inch long on a small handle. His skill made it extremely lethal.

Thanks for a very well made video.

Why on earth so many 'thumbs down'. He's done a fantastic job and like he said, it's his second project. Cut him some slack, please. He's at least very honest.

even if it didn't turn out perfect, it's pretty bad ass to be able to say YOU made the knife you carry. Good job man!

Don't sell yourself under. That is a great Karambit. It is meant to be a claw. You can make effective Karambits that are 2" long. Great job man! Tool steel is great to work with, and you did it right.
