96 Years Old and Still Woodworking. Meet my Grandpa! | Shop Tour

Meet my 96-year-old grandfather! Every day he heads out into his small garage shop and makes crosses, birdhouses, wood toys, foot stools and whatever else inspires him in the moment. To date he's made over 11,000 pocket crosses that have been distributed all over the world by his church, friends and family. He is my single greatest source of inspiration and is the kindest, warmest person you’ll ever meet. He has helped me appreciate life and is living proof that as long as you have a purpose and surrounded by loved ones you will find happiness.

One of the many things I love about Grandpa Picciuto is there’s an open invitation every Sunday morning in his tiny kitchen where friends and family gather to drink “Coffee Royals” which is a tasty blend of black coffee and whiskey!

I hope everyone who watches my videos finds their source of inspiration and finds their purpose. My goal here on this channel is to inspire others to be creative. Even if you don’t have the same tools or the same hobbies as me, I hope my videos spark that idea you’ve been looking for.

Thank you for watching and thank you for helping me live my dream. No matter what country you live in, race, gender, sexual orientation, class, we are all MAKERS and all in this together. Love and respect!

To those who have asked... my grandpa never takes money for the things he makes. He gives everything away for the love of the craft. I truly appreciate you watching. ❤️

Kudos, to your grandfather!! I am 72 and retired in 2002, before i retired i built my own shop and made sure i had all the tools i needed. Now i am out in my shop everyday and loving it. My wish is that i can be your Grandpa's age and still in my shop!! I couldn't agree more with his philosophy, A reason to get up every morning and i believe i have it. One of my joys is my 9 year old Grandson who loves working in the shop his his grandpa!!

I absolutely love your Grandfather. He just justified my shop cleaning theory. "when I put stuff away, I can't find it - so I don't put stuff away" ....

Next time you think "I'm tired today" just think of Mr. Picciuto and get your ass out of bed.

This was amazing, David!

Oh man, this made me cry. What a lovely man! Makes me miss my Grandfather, who was also a woodworker and inventor and ran a saw sharpening business out of his shop . I can still remember what his shop smelled like. I lost him the same year I graduated high school (‘94), so, he never knew that his granddaughter became a “craftsman” as well, but my aunts tell me that he would have been proud. Thank you for sharing him with us! And he looks absolutely fantastic!

Dude, that might have been one of my favorite videos you have made...Hope I'm half as active as your Grandpa IF I make it to his age.

Leave it to the two people in the world to give an uplifting video a thumbs down. Sheesh. Thank you for the glimpse into your family. Not all of us are fortunate enough to be so lucky. I have both of your books and at 62 I’m trying to setup a shop to start woodworking again. It’s been so long and has always been a passion for me. Right across from my shop I’m also getting some bees this coming spring. What a wonderful place to be in life. Thank you For the inspiration.

Hey David, nice job with this video! What an awesome tribute. I really appreciate how he does it out of passion and doesn’t take a dime for any of it, and I can relate a bit because I made a decision a few years back to never again try to sell any of my woodworking but to only give away my projects as gifts to friends and family. It’s much more rewarding that way and I know I’m doing it for the right reasons.

This is really sweet David. He seems like a great guy! My grandfather passed when I was 10, and I would love to know him at my age now. He owned a hardware store, and was a total tinkerer. I'm told I'm a lot like him. I'm glad you've had a chance to grow up with Tony. Hopefully we're all making stuff at his age!
