Being an assassin hopping across rooftops in a wretched city really reminds me of the video game series Dishonored. Love the feel of it, and some of those lore bits and written descriptions were really great. The dried flesh was horrific, and the “all who are deemed pagan shall be called to ruin this place”, what a wonderfully thematic way to mark an area and try to bring down a corrupt leader. Super cool stuff!

I recommend The Book of Strange New Things is a 2014 science fiction novel by Dutch-born author Michel Faber.

Definitely super-cool and unique. If the price is reasonable I will consider buying. I particularly like the mad-lib puzzle theme. How your actions spawn different consequences.
