The fact that he said “Good Afternoon, Good Evening, and Goodnight” Christof wanted some grand speech, but Truman got the last laugh by using the line they had heard at the start of every episode.

Saddest and most uplifting part of the film. In touching the wall he confirms his suspicions that everything he knew was a lie, yet at the very same time he is now completely free. I freaking love this scene, and this whole movie.

I love the fact the movie ends with him leaving because like the viewers in the movie we don’t either get to see his reaction and his life from that point

I like to imagine nobody ever heard from Truman again, except for perhaps Sylvia. He went and lived a quiet, peaceful life in a remote place, far from anyone who'd recognise him, far from the life of a celebrity.
Finally got some freedom and privacy.

"You never had a camera in my head!"
One of my favorite lines in this film. To use a line from another great film, Kingdom of Heaven, "A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power."

I love to get lost in the fantasy of the ending to this movie every now and again and inevitably there are always comments about wanting a sequel or some fantasy about what happens afterwards, but this is the way it should be. The rest of his life should be his own and none of our business. Let him be human for what's left of his life.

2:24 This is honestly my favorite part of the scene the music rising then cutting to Truman banging on the wall crying. He’s devastated to find out his whole life was a lie, sure he already knew that but getting 100 percent confirmation is just too much for him and he just lays there. However there is a sense of happiness its the thing he wanted most, something real he even bangs on wall just to check it’s real. God Jim Carrey is an amazing actor.

You can't simply suppress the human urge to explore.

I just love the shot at 01:20
He faced his fear over the water, conquered the "storm"(the studio trying to stop him) and is just enjoying the sailing. He looks so free.

The human desire for freedom is unconquerable.

Just noticed that there's an incredible visual metaphor at 3:38 - Truman has conquered his fear and can literally walk over water.

I actually teared up at this scene. With the orchestra playing and no other audio, it hit me almost as much as it hit the character: His life is a lie, he's been lied to by everybody. One of the most beautiful movies ever made.

I still wonder what this film would’ve been like if we the viewers hadn’t known this was a show right alongside truman

The directorial restraint at 2:28 to play that with just music, which only adds to the sense of helplessness and tragedy he’s feeling. There were so many ways to shoot that and this choice was such a genius idea.

Defining moment in film history. Captures everything. Orchestra symphony to the personal struggles we all must sometimes make to escape a world of being conditioned.

25 years last week this released. A classic.

That line "You never had a camera in my head", mixed with the stance and the delivery is probably one of my favourite Jim Carrey lines

"The episode when you lost your first tooth". Not the moment, the episode.

No one could have done this role justice like he did. I think what makes this scene so powerful, besides the wonderful score, is Carrey’s ability to use his body to say so many things that you just can’t properly put into words.

You watch him bang on the wall and begin to fall apart and you know exactly what he’s feeling all without seeing his face for SO LONG. The way he goes from angrily banging against the wall to desperately slapping at it with his limp and open hand as the realization washes over him. You’re with him in every way in that moment.

The same thing happens again when the Director is pleading with him. You see the back of his head, the way he reacts to the words being said. Him subtly wiping away his tears before he finally turns around.

One of the greatest performances in film, hands down.

This scene is a very powerful metaphor for that moment in our lives when we realise we have been conditioned a certain way our whole life and we finally break free from that conditioning, and henceforth become our true self...
