How To Kickstart a Vespa LX 150

I couldn't find any video tutorials on how to kickstart a Modern Vespa, so I made one. Enjoy!

Thank you, Steve! My Vespa did not turn on last night, making a similar sound as yours when I tried. I attempted to kickstart it a few times but I've never done it before so didn't really know what I was doing. I locked it and walked home, but I'm about to go and try again. Thank you so much for giving me a better grasp of what I need to do!

It might sound silly.. but turn the key to the run position and WAIT for 30 seconds.. most modern Vespas with carburetors ( like an LX 150) use an electric enrichener on the carb. they are also very lean from the factory so cold starts suck.. The best thing you can do is get an aftermarket carburetor.. but bigger jets in the stock carb help.. lots of tutorials online for this.. made all the difference on mine.

Thanks for showing how hard it is to start. I notice that the kick start gives me the same issue, where it gets stuck and it is really hard to crank. I am going to go try out the kick start out again and keep trying till i get it. Thanks for the video :)

Actually I am glad you didn't get it started on the first try. If it takes me a few kicks, I would rather see that it took you a while. So thanks!!

I had the same problem, and it may sound stupid but try to pull real hard the break when you push the starter, sometime if it's even a little loose it will not get the contact.
Thanks for the video, i give it up kick starting years ago.... will re try now.

this looks like a mantained Vespa. my friend has the same motorscooter with the same engine and his scooter will start with one good kick without even giving throttle and the choke will go on and turns off when the engine is on temprature and when it does turn off the engine runs in a VERY GOOD rate. (We adjusted the Carburators air intake and throttle) Managed to adjust many more 50cc 4 strokes from friends (Vespa and piaggio zip but same engine) to have the same outcome as mentioned above

Also for who doesn't know in the USA all motorcycle/scooters are sold with the headlight on at all time, it's mandatory. I had to change the keys starter on my 88 BMWRGS so i can save the battery

Thanks for the tutorial! I just got an aprilia scarabeo 100 and just wanted to practice kick starting. I just couldn't get it goin, I'll keep on trying but good info seeing it in action.
