In the Netherlands the rules are also similar, but it was relatively easy for me to get a proof of sponsorship as I have a permanent job here. Thetefore I am a bit surprised to hear about your bad experiences.

Recently me and my girlfriend also applied for a residence permit for her. It took a lot more work and time than getting the visa, but after more than two months waiting we recently got the news it is granted to her and she will arrive here just before Christmas😊.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. You two need to experience Germany together. I would try again; money be damned. I am a German American (mom born in Berlin) and I go to Germany frequently and it is a special place. Nann needs to experience Odin's mother country with him....

i would think you could open a bank account in germany and make a deposite then close it after your visit

Wow, I thought Australia was the only country in the world that makes it so difficult for most Asian people to get even a holiday visa. Crazy.

Verysad this situation. They are stealing your money. They started using it as a source of income.

Unfortunately many countries in Europe, inside and outside the EU deliberately make life difficult for genuine travellers like you two. The rules need to be reviewed and adapted to better suit the world we now inhabit. Lucky you two have a strong bond and I look forward to more adventures in Thailand and perhaps NZ.

I can only speak of a friend regarding thai coming to Canada. The visa agents will give some free advice as they have experience with visa refused. The condition is the thai must have a good reason and money over 100, 000 baht in her seperate account for over 6 months. This is the first thing the Canada embassy look at. If not not enough money in her account for over 6 months and photocopy account then visa application denied.
The letter of guarantee is good practice however not valid in court. The prepaid vacation showing a place to stay is good practice.
Example - my friend in Canada with letter also put 750, 000 baht in niece account. Visa rejected because money not in for 6 months.
.... sorry, government rules

I took my wife to the U.S. on a fiancé visa many years ago. I was much younger then and even though my wife was only 20 at the time we had no problem. Got married, green card and ultimately US citizenship. Don’t know if Germany has such a visa option where you could then just marry there. I know it’s not even that easy anymore to bring your wife to the U.S. when you actually marry in Thailand. The fiancée visa was a pretty easy option for us. But that was years ago. I suspect your embassy is looking at your vast age difference and it raises their concerns about her returning to her home country. Especially if finances are an issue anyway. It’s much easier to go to the U.S. if she owns property here. Jobs are considered but not as important as property ownership with my own country. Germany probably has a similar view.

Habe ich auch erlebt!
Selbst als Amtsleiter in einer Kreisverwaltung.
War für third party.
Sicherung in D von 10000€
Direkter Kontakt mit Ausländerbehörde.
Geld zwar retour aber kein Visum.

I live in Sweden and we have the same problem here as we also belong to the Schengen area (EU). I know the real problem is that if they give you visa and you later (after the holiday) dont leave they can not send you out. That is the democracy speaking. I think sometimes it's better living in a dictatorship. :/

I can really don't understand it. I went to the immigration here in my city in Germany, they wanted my steady income and my rent book. I got the " Verpflichtungserklàrung without any problem. ( Don't know the English word for it). But you must have this one to get a visa . Then in Thailand it is not possible to go the the German embassy in Bangkok any more. You have to fill a paper online and send it to VLF . ( Its a company that works together with the embassy in Bangkok )You will get then a date, go to VLF and that's all 😊

I read something about the American visa. It might be the same for Germany. I have a lot of friends who tried to visit America. Here's what I read. They must meet two things. Yes, the money matter is important. But the second part is also important. The applicant must prove that they will return by proving the tie that they have to come back. Children and property are two examples. I don't think that money is the reason that they denied. It's a lot more than that. There are things that they can't say. If they do, you can file a claim for discrimination.

The EU is kind of a mess at least in recent years. Glad not to be in it. I had a similar hardship many years ago. I wanted an old good friend to give the opportunity to visit my country for a change and show her around. Much like you intended. She also has a good long years lasting job, has an intact family, owns a house and is quite wealthy and the first time was turned down as well with a mere checkbox form reply. I objected and picked it up again after the first denial at the same time I made a call to the govenment office and explained that she will be safe and fly home and won't end up in a shady place and also I mentionned that my own record is perfectly clean and as a taypayer paying their salary I expect more farsight in decision making than what happened. I also said - What do you do with regular thai tourists who fly on an arrangement ? They need less proof and docuements and can travel freely....so why should it be different in my case. Much to my surprise and I didn't really expect it anymore, the vias was granted. I don't think this serves as good example for solving such an issue but I was maybe just lucky to have been able to speak to a person that finally understood the situation.

European countries can't stop illegal migrants entering but genuine tourists they reject, had same problem when my partner applied to visit the UK, but we were lucky that the second one was successful
