Finally! A desk that isn’t as shallow as my ex. Thank you for this

Just picked up a desk just like that for $20 on Facebook marketplace! It was barely used, and the guy needed to get rid of it as soon as possible because he was moving. Helped save money for better computer parts

Nice! The alex drawers are about 23" deep, your desk however is 42 deep. What did you do with the 19" excess of desk . is that hanging off the back of the alex tables and did you need some sort of support ? Thanks

I went with an 80x32in solid core wood door and it has been perfect. Put it on top of an UpLift standing desk motor.

Happy someone finally made a video about the Karlby Island desktop showing just how big and spacious it is. I've been planning (once I have the space) on changing my LINNMON desktop which I currently have on my sit-stand desk frame to the KARLBY Island desktop for the added depth to keep my 27’’ monitor at a good distance but also to have room to work without always having to remove my keyboard, mouse, and mouse mat. This desktop has enough depth to place it against a wall and still provide enough leg room to extend my legs and rest them on a leg rest underneath. The added width will also be great.

Are those Alex Drawers long enough to support the desktop? Do you have something on the back end to support it from tipping?

I've been wanting to get the butcher block top but I haven't really been interested in the drawers cuz I really just don't need them. Had no idea I could just buy legs off of amazon, which is cool because now I can look for something kinda stylish for the side legs, and pick out something kinda drab/boring for a support leg in the rear of the desk. I wasn't too keen on just the metal pole you can get, doesn't quite complete the look imo.
I strongly thank you for this idea, been trying to piece together a dream desk for quite some time :)

Omg thank you for this video. Ive spent weeks trying to find a desk for my setup and one of my biggest pet peeves was the width for the desk. I like to have a lot of room myself for my gaming setup. This idea is actually genius. Great content! You earned yourself a new subscriber.

Excellent video, mate! New subscriber. A door desk is a great option for a budget desk setup. I built one for my first home (actually it was a little studio condo). The door knob hole is perfect for cable management. I used a pair of solid metal sawhorses on each end. It was a cool setup until I noticed the sag that developed over a few months. Lesson learned: add a post or some other kind of support in the middle of the desk. I now use an Ikea Galant desk. IMO, the Galant was the best computer desk ever. You could put together exactly the kind of desk that best suited your needs. I still can't understand why it was discontinued. Mine is 15 years old. Definitely has some battle scars, but the old man works great and still looks pretty good.

GOAT, this is exactly the perspective I was looking for a tv as monitor setup.

I've been unable to find this desk for sale in the UK are there any alternatives to this?

What legs are you using in the rear behind the Alex drawers and are the 27.5" or 28"? Looks fantastic! 👍

Nice video as usual! Are you supporting the desk with something else other than the drawers, considering the depth?

Can you show a picture of the front & back side of your desk?
Reason I asking is, wouldn't this be unbalanced as the Alex drawers are placed on the front side there is no support on the back side unless you have legs on it. Or is it that the island top is heavy enough that there is no need to support the back side?
I'm looking to do a 105" long desk for 2 gamer setup as my movie room hasn't been used for 4 years now time to move the leather couch & make the room a gamers room. We have 3 gamers in our house.

Is the 42” depth awkward with the Alex drawers? Because it looks like there would be space behind the drawers where it could tip? Did you mount them with something or does the weight work well enough?

This was super helpful, honestly. I was just thinking about the pros and cons of the island butcher block.. this confirms it for me..

So you use the Alex drawers in the front and those legs go in the rear and the block sits flush?

I’ve got a question about building a desk out of a door. I’m putting it on top of 2 Alex drawers and probably some support in the back. But as a gamer should I get a solid core or hollow core door. Looking for tips, anything will help😁

Did you install metal table legs behind the Alex drawers?
