Review- Lexx Seasons 1 & 2

This is a review of the super-cheap Echo Bridge DVD edition of the sci-fi series Lexx Seasons 1 & 2.

This sci-fi is so underated. Such a unique premise and really memorable characters. It was just so... odd.

Back in the 90s some Ukrainian channel bought this show (bet it was cheap af) and started to play it instead of typical afternoon cartoons. So when I was back from the school I had to watch it (we had like 3 channels in the 90s). This shit was very confusing and disturbing to say the least

Spoiler alert- Did you know they could do a lexx season 5 still, takes place 20 years later or something, most of the actors are still alive in real life, and I already found a way to bring kai back. In season 1 episode 2 they made a copy of kai's soul his memories, they can get his body and put his memory back with same device.

Also Eva can come back and be another zev both zev's can play the role. Trust me it would be epic to bring a classic way of doing a tv show back on air. None of these new ones can stand a chance at being the weirdest sexiest scifi of all time which is Lexx.

Hi. You can get remastered quality of Lexx on Youtube. The quality of the YT Version is much better then the DVDs. Anyway, Lexx is the weirdest SciFi series ever.

The I think it was Acorn DVD's back when they were made shortly after the final season finished are downright superb. Not sure who put out the version you got. Also WAY back in the day when they were releasing this on VCR tapes those included little vignettes or extra features that have NEVER appeared anywhere else. Can't even find them on youtube.

As a huge fan of this show it has long been my dream that we would get a blu-ray set that included every promo thing they ever made for the show included on it.

I got a weird version of this set that doesn't have the episodes names on the discs. I can't complain, however, since I paid less than twenty bones for all four seasons.

The show suffered from some sillyness to just sort of ultra-low budget ness. Like the first show with the killing off of everyone, it was sort of implausible. You could just about do 'Twilight' in your garage. But it was often very profound and at a competitive level of points of interest. The show at some level was a sort of Euro subtext, and sort of praised itself. It is almost funny trying to spot the minorities in Lexx and what they were doing. There was Jesse Owens on planet water. I guess he made the team for that part.

Seasons 1 and 2 of Lexx are really the only good seasons. Though I think Eating Patterns of season 1 is terrible and doesn't add anything to the season 1 story arc. And I think White Trash is a terrible episode in season 2. And I really didn't like the big crappy CGI fest finale battle. I would have liked something more like Highlander or something than a bunch of CGI arms forming Voltron.

Season 3 is pretty bad as they wrote one episode and stretched it out for 13 episodes. You can tell they lost a lot of the budget with bad green screen and real bad CGI. And I've always hated season 4, and I saw this show when it first aired on Sci-Fi. Though I haven't watched Season 4 in probably at least 10 years. So I don't really remember much other than being on Earth and a lot of bickering with the President.

I am doing a final rewatch of the show and just finished Season 3. Don't know if I'll do Season 4, or maybe I'll do one episode a week or something. But after this, I don't think I'll ever watch the show again as I've watched it now like 5 times. Seasons 3 and 4 are just too bad and are kind of like how X-Files and Game of Thrones got run into the ground that kind of ruins the early episodes.

My favorite episode is Lafftrak from Season 2. It's actually the very first episode of Lexx I saw as I believe Sci-Fi started with Season 2 in the US. I really like the dog fight at the beginning where they are arguing over their tv show rating shooting each other up.

I haven't decided on where I stand of Zev 2 and Xev 3. I think Eva is really hot and I totally buy that Stan would be that obsessed over her, though her acting is fairly wooden, though I think some of that is English as a 2nd language. And I think Xenia seemed to have more fun and is a lot better with English but I just think she looks a little weird with those silicon lips that it can be kind of creepy when she's puckering up her lips trying to tees Stan or whatever.

So I can't decide which Zev/Xev is better, though I may just go with Eva as I'd much rather be stranded on a ship with her than with Zenia.
