Kind of like the confused child of a bowline and an overhand on a bite. That extra bulk in the knot must certainly help retain strength.

the first step is incorrect according to several other videos I've watched on this knot. Tag end should go behind not in front.

Three minutes to videotape a knot that takes 20 seconds to tie, and a marginally effective knot at that. Simpler is always better. Simple loop knot to attach a fly, double surgeons knot to attach tippet. Don’t over think it.

I just think this loop knot is too complicated. Unnecessarily so. Just stop the vid at 1:47. There are many other loops out there, and as far as I can tell, they're all simpler.
