Nvidia GPU Prices Will NOT Go Down Despite Horrible Sales

The current mood surrounding the GPU market is straight up depressing to say the least. The latest GPUs from Nvidia and AMD are just too severely overpriced for the performance they’re offering. Due the poor reception sales for latest RTX 40 series and AMD’s RX 7000 series haven’t been great, but despite that these manufacturers will hold strong on maintaining these high prices, especially here in North America. Nvidia will easily be weathering out the poor economic downturn by focusing on their higher-end and high margin clientele such as HPC and AI. Then once the market starts to pick back up they’ve already gotten their strong prices established as the norm and can continue to actually raise them as a response to “increased demand”. If you were hoping that we’d see drastically cheaper prices later in the summer I would probably temper your expectations if I were you.

They'll have a nice view from the top of the STACK of unsold cards then.

With those ridiculous GPU prices nowadays, gamers also have to consider other alternatives: either buy a console or do something completely different. And that's what AMD and NVidia have seemingly forgotten: there are other activities beyond PC gaming, activities that don't require you to overspend in stupidly expensive hardware just for a hobby.

The e-waste leasing company known as Nvidia is not going to lower prices eh? Not surprising.

That's fine. I'm not buying their overpriced stuff.

If this continues, video cards will become like cars. A few people can afford to buy new, everybody else is buying used or taking the bus (consoles).

No price drops, no sales. Kick rocks Nvidia AND AMD.

I really don't care what anybody thinks I feel like the 4090 should be $700 and nothing higher than that, same with the 5090 when it comes out

It's not just poor GPU pricing. The quality of AAA PC ports has been atrocious for a while, so both things combined give very few reasons for a mid-range user like myself to bother upgrading.

My ryzen 3600 + 6600XT machine runs most games great at 1440p - and anything that doesn't perform well, I'll play on console.

The PC simply isn't guaranteed to provide a much better experience than the PS5 right now- so why would I consider buying an overpriced Lovelace or RDNA3 GPU?

Intel *ONLY* lowered their "four" core CPU price (remember they used to cost over 1K! "extreme" edition) thanks to AMD smacked them silly to oblivion, UNTIL someone beat the crap out of Nvidia as AMD *DID* to Intel, I'm afraid little to nothing will change.

I agree with your points, but let us be 3090 was VASTLY overpriced. I don't trust that price Nvidia came out with. The 4090 really is the only thing "worth it" because it is the market performance leader. All the other cards in the ADA stack are not good price to performance. Nvidia is going to end up with a big issue that plagued them from Ampere; oversupply. They will be sitting on those cards for a long time, unless they start discounting. AMD better take notice.

Try Europe for GPU you're lucky if you live in Canada/US

Here in Australia we’ve seen some sales by a couple of our largest pc tech stores 💻and seen a couple Gigabyte models (non o/c and o/c) RTX4080 going for roughly $1000USD 🤩and still not selling 😱🤯 and a Galax / KFA2 model going for just a fraction over this price and again, not selling. I agree that a lower RRP/MSRP was needed …. I feel around $749-799USD would have been much better accepted by reviewers and gamers 🥰🥳

NVidia is trying to call our bluff. I don't know about you guys, but I'm not bluffing. I will NOT buy a GPU for these ridiculously over inflated prices, and neither should you.

The 4090 shouldn't be anymore than $800 and the rest should scale down from there. If you think that's not realistic, think again. NVidia is marking these cards up over 100%. They could sell the 4090 for $650 and still make a profit.

I hate that the COVID/Mining price gouging of the 30 series has become what's considered normal now. Then the 40 series is STILL not good value.

If the prices won't drop this is their problem, not ours.
We don't have to buy these GPUs but they have to sell them.

I still see 1660 super being sold for $220 brand new. Crazy pricing.

Another reason why I'm glad I switched to AMD. And this will likely cause a lot of other pissed off NVIDIA customers to switch as well.

Card prices have gone down pretty much 2nd hand here in Europe.
$500 for 3080 10gb, $620 for 3080ti. $340 for 6700xt. $170 for 5700xt.

This happened a bit before the previous 40 series launch as well, I think it will only go up from here within 2 months. 4060/4060ti won't be that cheap for the performance.

Even if some AMD store prices have had sales as well, such as 6950xt ($720), 6700 ($350), 6650xt ($320)
