The Pilot Sport 4S has been the benchmark for Max Performance Summer since it was launched. Does it still have what it takes to remain a favorite?

The Michelin PSS were much quieter, IMHO. I ran many sets of the PSS on my street and track day GTO, and I’ve run 3 sets of the PS4S on my little 350bhp GTI:

The PS4S are definitely noisier, but quieter than the rock hard Bridgestone RE-71, Dunlop Star Spec, and Falken RT-660 they compete against.

The Continental ECS might be the most quiet and polite in this class. I drove on those quite a bit this year with a customer’s 2022 Mini Cooper JCW (F56). Very similar characteristics to the Michelin PSS, and that’s a high praise.

The Michelins (both the PSS and the newer PS4S) are dynamic with tire pressure: a 2-3psi change up or down can have a drastic difference on comfort versus athleticism.

I like this feature: 28-30psi gives a very comfy ride for a performance tire. 32 cold and 36psi hot makes them super sharp and precise on canyon runs and track days.

You can dial your ride quality this way very easily.

Like if this info helped anyone. ✌️

Hard to believe this tire has been out for 5 years already. Wasn't the pilot Super sport it replaced about 5 years old when this came out?
