I'm an old Mega cloud user and I started using this service when the free account was available with 50 gigs. Afterwards, I've noticed that the new clients could register still for free but with 20GB of cloud storage. I mainly use it for work and never for movies or pictures. My finances don't allow me to get the paid version but when I'll earn money enough I will consider buying it to express my gratitude to the developers.

Ok, so I know this is an older video, but I do want to share some info about mega that it doesnt seem like people know. If you download a file from someone elses mega account, then upload it to your mega, it saves your uploaded file to the mega server as a new and individual file. Now, if you, instead of downloading it, imort the file to your mega account, it does not save anything to your account. It actually only links your file to the original, so in essence, you only imported a shortcut. Why does this matter? Well, if I import a file from someones mega, even if i dont share it, if someone reports the other guys file for TOS violation, you lose it too. If you download it your pc then upload it, that will not happen. And before you think you are smarter than their system, moving it and renaming it will do nothing for you. It is still just a shortcut. It HAS to be downloaded.

I have used Mega for years to download stuff. Now that I have a Mega account I also upload files. Kim Dotcom might have his own controversial history but he is not even involved with the service anymore (as you mentioned). I have heard he doesn't trust Mega and wants to start a rival service. That's his problem. I trust Mega and I will continue to use it.

End to end encryption on a closed-source platform is only as secure as its operator is trustworthy. If the platform is operated by a government, a foreign, litigation-immune or anonymous entity then one must never make the assumption that their data is 100% as secure as an open-source alternative would be.

Sorry new user :( . The 50 gb is permenant for account that are created before the change

MEGA has changed its policy involving free accounts for a while now, at least since early 2018. This change in policy was not enforced retroactively though, people who created their free accounts before that change (as I did) still have their 50GB intact. Any account created since has 50GB initially, but that is temporary, falling back to 15GB permanently after a certain period.

Mega ist nicht böse es ist halt sehr verschlüsselt deshalb kann man auch Raubkopien hochladen es wird leider auch für Kinderpornografie missbraucht so wie die Kinder das macht mich wütend 😡 wie kann man Kinder so etwas antun weil die cloud die Inhalte nicht scannen kann weil es vor dem Upload verschlüsselt wird
