Elderly patients with osteoporosis who need surgery to replace their degenerated and damaged cervical discs, can now turn to a new surgical technique. It's minimally invasive and maintains spinal mobility, which makes it suitable for a wider range of patients. More than 100 patients have undergone the procedure in the past 15 months. Unlike the conventional method which is spinal fusion, this new procedure involves a combination of soft tissue releases and accurate placement of implants.
