Let's face it - a lot of recruiters (including Amy) are in recruiting because it's pretty much the only thing they're any good at! ;) So WHY do we allow "technical" recruiters to claim the title when they really don't know what it is their candidates do??

In this week's video Amy gives a high level overview into to logic (and behind the scenes partnership) that allows recruiters to talk to candidates about knowledge and competencies they themselves do not possess. To quote an old phrase Amy still keeps on her desk - "the work will teach you how to do it".

This is an interesting take Amy because I am technical and was extremely successful in technical recruiting. However, I love this because it demonstrates why career professionals need to customize their resumes. You cannot say this more for them to understand

Does this mean that if the job description asks for experience in CI/CD (continuous integration and continuous delivery), my resume won't be shortlisted if it has GitHub Actions listed but the Recruiter is looking for the words Jenkins or TravisCI?

Hey Amy, this video was so REAL and informative. I have been searching for a good video like this which is fun, real and full of great information. You were not full of unreal jargon and robotic at all. Thanks so much for putting this out there for all of us. Hi Amy! I was contacted by a technical recruiter saying “ you are almost the perfect fit”

Him and I had a call assuming a screening call. I showed my strong interest in the role and the company.

Then he came back to me saying “ the company decided to go in a different direction. Sorry bye”

I was puzzled. Does it mean the hiring manager didn’t see my potential for the role?
