I have small hands and favored the Z9 because I can use the ball of my thumb to add support in holding the camera body (deal breaker). Thus, I love my D3 and not my Z6 with & w/o the grip. Other things I like the Z9 is the battery, same memory card format, balance well with my lenses and its reduced introductory price.

Come to think of it, there isn't much change in my 45 year primary camera choices as an enthusiast, from the F2A + motor drive + battery pack to Z9. 🙂

BTW, for those who are concern with any battery or power bank life, just use a USB power meter to measure the its mAh capability while charging.

I had pre-ordered a Z8, but after handling the Z9 in a store, I canceled it and bought the Z9. Maybe it was a "mistake, " I'm not sure, but I've always wanted one of the Nikon pro bodies. Overheating concerns for the Z8 seem to be very dependent on which brand/model of CF express card you choose. I like w/ the Z9, the battery is so big, you can turn on all the bells and whistles (bluetooth, wifi, GPS) and still not really think about battery life. It is heavy, but it's also built like a tank. I would prefer it to have 2 USB -c ports, but the scenario where you really need it is if (1) the camera is stationary for a long time so you want AC power and (2) nikon has enabled SSD support. The Z9 could use a dummy AC battery to handle this scenario. The software difference I don't think will matter when the Z9 is next updated. For me and for most people, probably Z8 / Z9 comes down to the weight issue. I'll see how it goes, but so far I don't mind the extra weight.

The Z9 is truly a camera without compromise. Well, technically the only thing compromised is your back. 😂

I’m currently saving for a second Z9. Thought about the Z8, but I want to get away from the SD card format and I prefer having a vertical grip. The Z8 with a vertical grip is not ideal to say the least.

I have the Z9 and can shoot all day with it and still have plenty of batteries. I shot 3500 shots for a swim meet and had plenty of batteries.

Good video! Need a second body to pair with my z9 (current have a z7) and really wanted 2 z8 s but the different card slots is annoying. Thinking hard about 2z9s but there is the weight factor

These CIPA are not necessary a good guideline.

I shot more than a thousand photos on a single battery several times with the Z6ii,
According to CIPA, I should only be able to shoot 340 photos...

The Nikon 9 is hideous, and you have to be a weight-lifter to schlepp it around. Give me a Leica any day.
