I think these “investment” bags have also hit the ceiling on what most people are willing to pay. The retail price is so high that customers threshold for buying (above retail) for a used bag (be real, it’s used) is just not enough to be profitable for the seller, especially if they need to pay commissions. Even with the high markup for a Birkin you have to consider how much you truly paid for it with all the pre-spend.

so agreed with you. I brought luxury handbags for love of that particular bag, NEVER come to my mind for investment purpose. I still own my very 1st LV Alma PM (since in my early 20, that's 22+ yrs ago). the Alma bag is still in great condition. and I am def not trendy follower, only go with classic bags. ❤

I can’t afford luxury quite yet, but I’m the same way with my thrifted or high street pieces. You should buy something to use and to wear and enjoy, not just to sit on a shelf for display (unless it in display gives you a lot of joy).
It’s sometimes the “classic” pieces I never wear, because it isn’t necessarily something I wear often.

So agree with you! I think we are influenced by a specific idea of buying investment pieces. Even luxury companies use it to encourage people to buy. Personally, I am too lazy to sell and ship my bags. I would like to just buy what I can afford, get excited, and enjoy using the bag as much as possible

I am careful with my bags but don’t baby them as much. I totally agree with you that you will be very limited in choices when you purely look at investment value. I love items that are different and and that’s not plastered all over social media.
Great topic for the video.

I completely agree, going purely for investment value/classic status is just as bad as buying a bag because it’s a trend. At the end of the day, as long as you know your style and you’re buying what you love and what suits you, you won’t regret your bags.

Your collection is the prime example of that and that’s what makes it so different from 90% of other luxury bag collections; it’s very fun, very you, and unless your style suddenly does a 180, you’ll be able to rock your bags for decades. 🔥🔥🔥

THANK YOU for being a voice that says "buy what you love and don't force it"; I've ben trying to convince myself for years to love (most) Chanel bags, but with the exception of the Boy Bag I just cannot seem to get the feels, and I think it mainly has to do with my personal style. I'm a 90% black wardrobe with edgy/fun/bright accessories (and makeup) kind of girl, and the classic aesthetic of most timeless bags just don't vibe with my style, even if they are lovely in their own right.
Watching this video makes me want to take the plunge on something super fun and bold next, (Fendace Broach baguette or Fendi sequin baguette perhaps??)
Love the content as always!!

100% agree. In order to get your investment they have to sit there. I realized this around 2018 when I started getting into lux. I realized it was just like a car, the moment you drive it off the lot the value goes down

Cassie u r that person who is buying items to enjoy it and wear it no matter it is an investment or no. I can see this from Ur videos. Really appreciated

Very true words. I recently bought my first designer item (a ysl belt) and for me it was all about personal investment. I knew that if it was so truly me and I was obsessed with it, which I am, then I can wear it for decades because I believe true personal never dates. Evolves, maybe, dates, no. I love your mentality of designer is supposed to be enjoyed and I wish more people in the luxury community talked about it, it makes me feels less intimidated with the idea of having and wearing luxury pieces.

So true!! I am all for the beauty I see in the designs I buy. It is all about the passion. Living life while I can. Thanks Cassie 💕💕

Makes sense to me. In this day and time no one could guess what products would make money. Great video.

Fab video and I totally agree! My last video responding to roasts of my bags was based around the fact that they aren’t classed as investments…. I have a follow up scheduled on what stops us from ignoring resale.

Hi Cassie. I agree with you in saying that one should buy what they love the most and not necessarily what will give them a better return in future should they sell the bag. If you're gonna spend such money, might as well spend it on what makes your heart rejoice! Thank you for this intresting video. Have a fabulous weekend ahead.

You’re 💯 right! If you’re looking for investments you’d be better off looking at land or precious stones! Handbags are just not the best investment for all the reasons you mentioned unless this is the driving force behind your purchase. You are going to constantly review the market for the best time to sell. That sounds like a job rather than an enjoyment 😉

Totally agree! 💯 bags are meant to be worn and enjoyed, I don’t see them as investments because like you said, you never know what will stay in style or not. Great video!

Ahemmm- that necklace- swoon. Ok, I agree on this. Nothing worse than buying a bag and being fearful of using it in case you want to sell it some day. I buy mine and use them with joy!! Have a lovely weekend Cassie!

Best advice!!! Buy what you love and works for your lifestyle! These luxury items work for us not the other way around!

My favorite bag is the Chloé drew and I don't think it's ever been a hot bag or considered and investment piece either but I know I will love it and wear it all the time and bring my cost per wear down and so I don't worry about investment bags, just what I'm attracted to and what makes me happy

I only ever buy what I love. I never think of the "investment" value of the bag. I think I would go bonkers if that was all I ever thought about when buying a new bag and I am bonkers enough already. LOL I buy what makes my heart sing. I want to enjoy my bags and I do. I look after them very well, I am very fussy. :) They are all my babies and I believe they need to be cared for and loved but not with the thought of resale . I like them to look as best as they can and I feel proud when I go out with them. It makes me so sad when I see ladies out with a gorgeous bag and they haven't looked after it. It's like they take them for granted. Obviously more money than sense. We work hard to buy these bags so they need to be cherished and enjoyed at the same time. Much love to you, Nii and your wonderful parents. Much love. Jenni from Australia. XXXX
