Scientists Theoretically Develop Physical Warp Drives - IGN Now

Scientists at the Applied Physics group seem to have solved a problem dealing with theoretical warp drives, and their solution could pave the way to making warp drives a thing of reality. The math and equations might be complicated, but it boils down to creating a space where space-time acts "normally" and is surrounded by a "warp shield" that is affected by the warping of space-time. Anyway, the math seems to check out, and it might not take an infinite amount of energy, as faster-than-light travel typically requires.

"Warp Drives Could Be A Reality"
Cover image is of Star Wars instead of Star Trek. **facepalm**
EDIT: They changed it. Credit where it's due, they took the time to correct it.

IGN a major news platform can reference Wikipedia, but my little high school paper can’t :/

The concept of a warp bubble isn't exactly new

Alcubierre drive - is what's being described. and its a Space time bubble. Been a thing since 1994. bit slow there IGN. maby you need a warp drive.

Uhm... The Alcubiere drive concept has been around since the 90's. Y'all acting brand new on this, lol.

Why use images & clips from Star Wars & Mass Effect? Star Trek has 50+ years worth of clips to pull from & it’s the actual franchise that uses warp technology 🤦🏽‍♂️

It's not could be a reality, it is a reality if we focus on space exploration rather than busy on earth waging war in middle east

Harrold "Sonny" White at Eagle Works Labs (NASA) took Alcubierre's Metric (from "The Warp Drive: Hyper-fast travel within general relativity" 1994), which had already been refined, and fine tuned it to minimize the energy requirements. In addition, in a proof of concept, actually measured slight changes in space-time when using lasers to create a miniature "warp field." He left for private endeavors before he could scale the experiments up. My hope in coming to the video was that engineers had actually designed the scaled up "Warp field generator" using more powerful lasers, but alas, this "news" is almost 30 years old now...

‘Theoretically’ develop ‘physical’ warp drive.

So they did nothing

Sorry to be such a nerd about this but Star Wars has hyper drives, Star Trek has warp drives, please use the right picture next time

Warp Drive as we know it is impossible. Besides, even if it were possible, time dilation would change everything.

In star trek terms she was explaining what a warp bubble is and creates a negative energy in which normal space trys to reject therefor pushes the ship to warp speed

Why did they use a Star Wars thumbnail for a Star Trek warp drive theory?..

The nerd in me rages. Says warp drive in the title. continues to put a picture of Star Wars as the thumbnail.

Warp Drive: A concept and tool used in Star Trek since before Star Wars, which uses Hyper Drive

IGN choosing the the thumbnail: Meh
