I remember Mike Lang breaking down the season into 3 segments. Most teams will win 10 games per year they should have lost (goalie steals one, other goalie has terrible night, etc.) lose 10 games they should have won... and the remaining 60 tell the real story. This was when it was an 80 game season.

Pens got one of their 10 won but shoulda lost games. They could well outplay NYR on Friday but get goalied. Not convinced thus team is good enough, consistently enough to compete for a playoff spot. Especially since we are behind the field with about 1/3 of the season already played.

It was a really good game. I agree DK, Losing the lead matters, and when they are ahead, it's just not time to relax. They need to go after the puck the whole game. Thank you DK for another good one. Big win !

This seems to be a theme with this team... slow starts, get hot in December and January, go ice cold in February and start battling for a playoff spot in March... am I wrong?!

Putting any blame on Jarry for last night's game is just the epitome of "I'm just going to blame the goalie". The Pens got absolutely dominated last night by a much better team. Jarry was pretty good for most of the game, and Knight was bad for the entire time. That is why the Pens won 5-4, and didn't lose 6-0 like Florida beat Carolina the other night.

i really do like Blomqvist, i hope he comes back up. i seen him make some supernatural saves. plus, his name means "flower-branch" like COME on! the new Flower...

puljuuu, too. the big kid has heart and heart is a hUge asset. (why, why, why make room for guys that are invisible/inactive.) bring him up, lest his heart grow cold!

Good Morning DK, Great Show, But Why is it when Pittsburgh gives up a goal with 5 on 5 I'll see all 5 of the Pens standing inside of the Circles and in front of our Goalie? Everyone is looking at the net and nobody is picking up any of the other Players???? That's hard to watch and see them just standing around and it looks like a Power Play but it's 5 on 5???! Why can't Sullivan fix the problem it's been going on for 2 years now. This is the NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE RIGHT????

Dejan, I've been occupying my evening at the piano with terrible musical theater reductions whilst waiting for this, so thanks for coming through on the earlier side! Why do these guys have to play with my emotions like this?? Why do they look like Pinocchio realizing he is a real boy all of the sudden? Should we be holding higher hopes for rank in draft order, or real-time progress via roster juggles and minor acquisitions?? Close attention to either one (or both) of those things may prevent us from losing additional CONSISTENT players who could very well compliment our current (successful) style of play (*COUGH* Lars) for no reason other than a shake up...

Somewhat similarly to what you said... I honestly think that with this array of talent on the squad, there is a solid to GOOD team buried in there to be found... Defense is still quite enigmatic, though... Furthermore, I've been a Puljujarvi sympathizer since the day of his signing... it's making me FRIGGING NUTS that he's being scratched.

Good win, but you are spot on about the persistent D and G problems. Letang’s D play continues to be unimpressive, though his shooting isn’t bad. Maybe they could move him to the offense…

DK, I’ve really been impressed with Pickering’s game and I love that Sully is keeping him in, but I’m afraid that with every young and promising d-man this team brings up they flame out. Will he break the mold?

Games are generally decided in the second half of the second period or in the third period.

The first half of the game everyone is fresh and everyone can play equally.
But by the end of the second period and the third period the body gets tired.This will bring a change to the game.
If we looking Penguins core players who mostly playing in first and second line and pair. There are probably quite high avarage age. This could be a place of thought. Add uncertain goalkeeper and you get allready answers.

Example, if you looking Bluejacket lineups and pairs. First two line are almost under 30years quys and same with pairs and bottom guys are over 30. Penguins have the opposite.
Btw Columbus is a good momentum now and potential, of course a lot also depends on Elvis 🙂

Yep that’s right! 4 in a row more than likely will not make up for all the losses, blown leads, and horrible play this year! Don’t expect this winning streak to create any kind of hockey miracle. Unless someone gets up and stops laying down, or actually does something. This year this team is beyond mediocre! It’s sad but true!!!

I'm always on pins and needles when Jarry is in. I'm not a player but some of the goals he allows seems too easy.
