He'd escaped custody multiple times, but it was his 1999 escape from Sydney's Silverwater Jail, after his lover had hijacked a helicopter, the cemented his place in history. In 2014, Killick gave his first and only interview to Mike Willesee. This story originally aired in 2014.

In the middle of the fifties, in the main jail in Mexico City, Lecumberri, a foreign citizen prisioner escaped from prision by helicopter. I don't know of a helicopter escape before that one. It was front page news.

I met John in the back of a patty wagon in 1999, both on our way to Goulburn Gaol. He had just been pinched for the Bowral stick up. Back when the cops used to transit crims to prison instead of corrective services.

He is a Very Intelligent, Polite, & Kind Bloke, Who has Donated Lots of Money, From his Books, too Help Underprivileged Kids from Various Countries. He is Also a Excellent Author.
