Out of My Mind, a Disney Original Movie, premieres November 22 on Disney+.

Melody Brooks, a sixth grader with cerebral palsy, has a quick wit and a sharp mind, but because she is non-verbal and uses a wheelchair, she is not given the same opportunities as her classmates. When a young educator notices her student’s untapped potential and Melody starts to participate in mainstream education, Melody shows that what she has to say is more important than how she says it.

This is so meaningful. My daughter was born nonverbal, has autism, and has Weidemann Steiner Syndrome. They have the potential, they just learn differently, learn at a different speed and need the help to succeed

I was read this book in elementary and i am beyond excited to see this movie. It inspired me at a young age to see the world in a brighter light and i am so excited that more people can share this experience with the movie. This movie has been long overdo.

I had no idea that they were making a movie based on this book, but now that I know, I'm incredibly excited! My teacher read Out of My Mind to my class in 5th grade, and the story was so powerful, so moving, so heartbreaking, and opened my mind to so many people that I never knew very much about before. I still think about it all the time. I think that reading it at such a young age was absolutely crucial for creating a powerful sense of empathy that's been part of me ever since. You never know what other people are going through or what they are truly capable of, not until you try to find out for yourself. I think that everyone in the world should read this book.

As someone who is visually impaired, I can definitely understand Phoebe's mentioning of people treating those of us with disabilities differently. So happy we're getting more representation through this movie!

I watched Out of My Mind the night before Thanksgiving and it was really well done! It’s interesting that they hired Thomas Ellenson (who has cerebral palsy and uses devices to communicate in real life) as a consultant for this movie! I’m hoping that Phoebe will find more roles where she can use her unique voice! I would imagine seeing her in another American project where she can play a British exchange student who has cerebral palsy! But other than that, I hope we get to see more actors of different disabilities being accurately represented in on screen media!
