Is Luminar any good?

I have been working with Luminar, Lightroom, and Photoshop. I love them all and know each one has its pros and cons. The advantage of one is sometimes the disadvantage of the other. But Luminar has some really cool pros that both Lightroom and Photoshop do not have. As an experienced Luminar 4, Luminar 2018 and Luminar 3 user I try to really get into the details of where Luminar shines and where it does not.

It is in ways a review of the latest Luminar but also a reflection on what is best for any photographer's workflow

I switched to Luminar, as I didn't like the monthly payment plan, as I am not a Pro.

I switched to Affinity Photo and Luminar to permanently replace Photoshop and Lightroom. They work very well for me and I’m a professional photographer.

Hi Jacques, its seems that after you have done some edits in Lightroom and send it to Luminar plugin, the file format changes from raw to tiff. Doesn't that limit the editing possibilities in Luminar i.e., I believe you can do a lot more with an unprocessed raw file than with a tiff?

WOW, everything is right on, Jacques. I agree with all pros and cons. Very well done video. I personally never liked Lightroom, so Luminar 4 works well for me. Besides, using Photo Mechanic for culling and organizing negates the need for Lightroom.

Totally agree! Luminar is lovely as an addition to LR / PS. I'll often use the AI skin enhancer for small res output images destined for instagram, for instance.

It fast to edit but the software is slow

Luminar could stand to be faster... LUT support is better in Lightroom. No Luminar will not replace Photoshop.
