The German Past Perfect Tense | das Plusquamperfekt

In this German grammar lesson you will learn one of the 6 tenses which the German language has: das Plusquamperfekt - the German past perfect tense.
It is used to talk about an event/action in the past which happened before another event in the past. Mainly used in written German, so... how important is it and how do you build it? You will find out in this video. 😉

Thank you for the video. Let me say your work is very important. I will try to explain why people disagree with your take on German tenses. It is not because they know better than you. It is because this is there frame of reference. Especially when coming from English. Which emphasizes on when something is being done and not by who it is being done.

Thank you for the excellent video and clear explanation. It seems to me, as an English speaker, that we use the pluperfect much more than you say is usual in German. As you say, it's more written than spoken, so if I were writing in English I'd use it quite a lot. Incidentally, I used to visit Switzerland a great deal and loved it, so it's always a treat to hear from someone Swiss.
