NJ is listed among most expensive rental markets

The gap between income and the cost of rent is widening in New Jersey, where the price to lease an apartment is among the most expensive in the country. More than a third of the state’s residents are renters and according to a new report, affordable housing is out of reach for many of them.

A relative told me his 2 bedroom unit in a multi family house in essex county cost him $800 a month back in 2003/2004. Today something like that would easily be $1500 a month.

It’s really insane, I saw a 2 bedroom in EB and it was for 3, 000.00. That’s more than a mortgage in some places.

I've been renting in NJ for years and it keeps going up. It's insane! Wanted to get a house, but that's unaffordable too. :(

Yeah well try dealing with some corporation who wants charge u rent when u put a nostop payment on a checks so u dont double pay then they charge extact among u pay because o they its no funds in ur account when u just paid the amount

So called luxury housing being built. Cheaply built, thin walled ugly multi floor buildings with cheap appliances with unneeded amenities. Where is more affordable housing?
