Why 90% of golfers Can’t Control their Chip Shots around the green

Being able to chip the ball close to the hole from ANY lie around the green is a must if you want to lower your scores. So my question to you is "Is your technique good enough to work from bad lies as well as good?"

In this weeks golf video you are going to learn why most golfers duff their chip shots particularly when the ball is laying in a poor lie.

Good chippers have the ability to pop the ball up out of the worst of lies and still get the ball to stop with back spin near the hole. How do they do this?

The first major reason is they are using a chipping technique that is completely different to what you will see for your full swing. So many golfers that come to me anxious over their chip shots because they can't stop skulling or chunking them do so because they feel the chipping technique is just a miniature version of the full golf swing.

This couldn't be further from the truth. Not only is it a completely different golf swing it requires a completely different type of strike.

What's great for you is it's surprisingly easy to learn and use. To prove it I bring in one of my beginner golfers to test it out and I really make things difficult for him.

I burry the ball just off the edge of the green a few paces from the flag, which by the way is all downhill.

He's got to get the ball out of the rough and and stopping quickly next to the flag.

Danny - just wanted to thank you for these videos. I gave up golf 10 years ago as a 14 handicapper and only came back to the game this year. As I couldn't hit a ball for toffee I was given a provisional 22 handicap. By mainly eradicating my slice and - more importantly - improving my iron and short game I got an 81 gross last week and a 72 gross this week on Wirral GC. People who know it will tell you its a short but tight course and the last 2 scores were from winter tees but irrespective of that my game has improved dramatically and much of that is down to these videos which made it very clear the mistakes I was making.
