Invading would be insane for them because 1) they’d destroy the entire island essentially 2) they’d be putting their own government at risk, the Chinese population won’t be ok with losing their sons who are their retirement plans.
If they actually want to take Taiwan the answer is to make their own government popular so people don’t flee, fix their birth rate, and slowly have pro CCP population move to Taiwan and outgrow the old population and vote for reunification as Taiwan has an even worse birthrate than China.

The sad part is, Taiwan was never part of China, and Taiwan is a peaceful democracy not hurting or intimidating anyone, unlike the CCP. We (USA) need to recognize Taiwan diplomatically now and put an end to the CCP's childish behavior
