How to Make Pollen Patties for Bees

Pollen is a vital part of the honey bee diet. Of course, we want our bees to consume a variety of natural pollen because that is the best diet possible.

However, sometimes a bee colony will experience a pollen deficit. Due to drought, rainy weather or a lack of foragers , our bees may not have enough pollen for the colony to grow.

This is especially true in very early Spring for colonies that did not gather enough pollen in the Fall.

When used carefully, making pollen patties is a great way to boost a honey bee colony that is experiencing a pollen shortage.
