That didn't work for me, I'm not sure why... But i discovered a more complicated way to do it, for the people who had similar problems. You select the section you want, without the other part. ( I use the magnet lasso tool) Then you right click the selection, and hit layer via cut. Then, delete the layer you don't want, and voila.
