Honestly though, I think that Ichiban imagining all fights as turn-based combats worked out better for the story. For one, it works with his personality, as he's a video game nerd. Also, he isn't like Kiryu, he's actually weak and an underdog that will eventually become the "real deal", so he is dependent on a "party". If this game were a brawler game like the previous titles, they would've had to buff Ichiban, thus invalidating his story. It would've been a Kiryu 2.0 story instead. I would love though if the combat returns to brawler style once Ichiban becomes strong, even if only for 1 fight (the final boss in Yakuza 10 or so... that would actually be epic IMO).
