I like how Kiryu and Ichiban's clothes are directly opposite in color. Kiryu the calm stoic in white overalls and red shirt and Ichiban a red suit to express his expressive and loud personality in direct contrast to Kiryu.

This is a pretty good introduction to the new guy. He even pays respects to the original hero by knocking out a random nuisance for him. (obviously Kiryu could handle that one guy, but hey, one less encounter to waste time with).

Ichiban's first design isn't bad per say, he looks like a guy that is kinda lost in the world, out of touch, kinda in his own bubble. Current Ichiban looks more lively though, more energetic, and more charismatic. I guess that's why I prefer his design.
