"That I've discovered by accident." is indeed a way to discover something cool in a program.

“That I discovered by accident”
I have never heard learning blender described so accurately.

After 25 years of gaming my eyes are tuned to see patterns and repetitions of textures and assets and i absolutely love it when developers/designers take the time to make textures/assets more realistic 👍

It’s wild to me that literally anyone with a PC can get this app for free and start making assets this good completely for free for whatever project they want

It really inspires me to start learning game development and working in engine to make a game, even if I’m the only person that ever plays it

As someone who uses digital art programs very often, the “color burn” is a layer setting in most art programs. There are many different ones like “multiply”, “addition” and “screen”. They are all really fun to play around with :)

This is such a trust the process solution. It looked terrible until the last minute and then it was amazing!

I am no game developer or programmer but my friend is. I showed him an invented technique that I came up with using one standard tile that was randomly redrawn within its center with various curving inner borders while maintaining the grids integrity square or polygonal border. A couple dozen randomly tiled would create a random looking pattern to which the grid was harder to see. Combine this technique of mine (I have never seen it used anywhere, but perhaps it has been used before) with the burning technique you have here and you will have an even better result. This technique would require the 3D engine to be programed to randomly tile from a class set of tiles instead of just one tile. Also, due to the randomization of a hard to see grid pattern, the texture tiles do not need to be heavily mip mapped and degraded but rather can retain its high definitions which also results in realism. I do not know how much maximum detail can be retained for the 3D rendering to be without glitchy artifacts but I am certain a higher level of detail could be retained within each set of tile textures. Your welcome.

This is why blending nodes *always* come in clutch when you're using the mix node

Its been around ten years I’ve first watched you. I am no longer using blender, i am a programmer now. Boy do I miss watching one of your tutorials for the weekend… Thanks for everything Andrew 🙏

Pfffft YouTube just gave me a blast from the past by recommending me this. Last time I watched you was for some basic blender tutorials I needed for a high school project (and some donuts of course). That was almost 7 years ago. Glad to see the channel is still up!
