I revived a late 2013 Mac Pro with macOS Sonoma!

Had a lot of fun with this more than 10 year old computer, which can still render out 4k Video with Final Cut Pro in ok-ish speed today. Who knows, I might even go ahead, and upgrade it with a faster M.2 SSD or larger memory. Taking my eyes open for a used 24 inch cinema display for sure! That Dell 23'' monitor in the video is actually not that bad given it's age of 14 years, but no Retina high resolution one, so ... maybe you've got one to spare?

I've had mine SINCE 2014. Never felt the need to upgrade it. 11 years of faithful service. Will run it till it's gone. Still in MINT condition too.

I recently purchased a trashcan myself. You seemed to have a lot more trouble setting everything up than I did, guess I just got lucky. The only problem I'm having with mine is that I cant use 120hz on my ultrawide monitor, only 60hz which is very painful to switch back to after using 144hz for so long. I can get 120hz to work when I change the resolution down to 1080p, which again is painfully to switch back to after 1440p daily use.

Thank you, for sharing your issues loading Mac operating systems on your used space gray "trash can" size Mac Pro, Just like yourself, I had always wanted to own one of these units. So, a couple of years ago, I pick-up a used Mac Pro 8-core/D-700/64GB/1TB SSD model currently running OS X 10.13 High Sierra and, I paired it with my already owned Apple 27-inch Cinema LED (none thunderbolt) display and, everything has been working great. My suggestion for a good monitor for your Mac Pro system would be an Apple used 27-inch Cinema (thunderbolt version) display (smile...smile).

Does the current version of Final Cut Pro work on MacOS Sonoma on that Mac Pro?

I would like to continue being able to edit 4K Video with a more current version of MacOS. If it does work well, i would update via Opencore Legacy Patcher.

Hi! I just bought mine this month and tried to install Sonoma, but sadly, Ventura, Sonoma o Sequoia restarted randomly the Mac. I know the facts aren't responsible, nor the temperature. I think the responsible is Opencore (from 1.5 to 2.0.2). Don't you have the same issue with your Mac Pro? Can you give any tip to fix my problem? Thank You!

I'm watching this on a Mac Pro 2013 64GB 6-core D300 running Sonoma. Both the CPU and GPU are at less than 10% utilization decoding 4k60. I haven't decided whether to get a 30" Cinema Display or a 5K screen with a Chinese display controller., but one or the other is in my future.
