Navigating Crisis: Cape Town's Path to Sustainable Energy Transformation

The strategy includes network stabilisation as a response measure and optimal utilisation of resources, including natural, financial, and human resources. The city also aims to address poverty alleviation and the impact of high electricity prices on the economy and indigent members of society.

The long-term goal is to transition to a "future-proof utility" and reach a sustainable energy platform by 2030, with all city buildings being net zero carbon, and ultimately aligning with the city's goal of being net zero carbon by 2050.

The strategy also considers decarbonisation and revenue collection challenges while serving the needs of the community and the organisation's growth aspirations.
