India has overtaken China as the world's most populous nation. According to the UN, it has some three million people more than its neighbour. With a population of 1.428 billion people, India is home to nearly a fifth of humanity -- greater than the entire population of Europe or Africa or the Americas. Half of India's population is under the age of 30, and it is on track to become the world's fastest-growing major economy in the coming years. India's population is forecast to keep increasing, while China's numbers are expected to decline further after falling for the first time in six decades last year.

Remember Singapore's “Girl or Boy, Two is Enough” campaign in the 1970s. Brilliant. Singapore succeeded in limiting population growth so spectacularly that now we need 1.5 million foreign workers.

As an Indian 🇮🇳, I can tell what India needs right now is a fertility rate like that of South Korea (0.78 births per woman in 2022).

A double-edged sword.
Whole world will be watching how India navigate thru.
With new entrants to job market every year, jobs must be created to meet the demand.
Education and training needs a rewrite to cater to an environment of different categories of new industries demanding job skills.
New infrastructures needs to be added to meet FDI needs as it's crucial to adapt to evolving environment.
Good luck India.

this is media distortion, calling it 'dividend'. it is an issue actually. To be objective, China 1 child policy is not popular but it help reduce poverty and better education since family scarce resources is dedicated to this 1 child. We see this in nature as well, it is strategy for survival. Now out of cycle of poverty, the family size could expand. Singapore went through this cycle as well. To me, India, and South Asian including Philiphine and Indonesia need to control their population to move the society to next level of welfare.

India is one of the most populous countries in the world, and its population is increasing rapidly. This population growth will have a profound impact on the environment, world health, carbon emissions, and deforestation. The large unskilled population will also be adversely affected by the planning of fiscal deficits.

One of the biggest challenges that India will face due to its increasing population is the impact on the environment. As more people are born, there will be an increased demand for resources such as water, food, and energy. This will lead to increased carbon emissions, which will contribute to climate change. Additionally, as more land is needed to support the growing population, there will be more deforestation, which will further harm the environment.

The impact of India's increasing population on world health is also a concern. With more people living in close proximity to each other, there is a greater risk of disease outbreaks. This is particularly true in areas with poor sanitation and hygiene practices. India must take steps to address these issues to prevent the spread of disease and protect the health of its citizens.

Another challenge that India will face due to its increasing population is the impact on its economy. With a large unskilled population, it will be difficult to plan for fiscal deficits. This can lead to instability in the economy and harm the country's overall financial health. To address this issue, India should invest in education and training for its unskilled population to improve their job prospects and help them contribute to the economy.

India's increasing population will have far-reaching impacts on the environment, world health, and economy. It is crucial that India takes proactive steps to address these challenges by investing in education and training for its unskilled population and implementing policies to protect the environment and public health. Failure to do so could result in catastrophic consequences for both India and the world as a whole.

China pull out 840 million of it's population out of extreme poverty. This is not the case for Indian population, large number living under the poverty line. Increasing the population will make it worse. It's a burden nothing to loud about.
What modi need to implement is "one child policy" to counter this problem.

When the sociology expert says India needs to invest in education and work trainings, I wonder how the Indian government is going to find or produce the resources needed, we have to wait and see if it's possible
