This is the one time in your life when your heart takes a break and you get to live.

My dad was having an alergic reaction to sulfa drugs once and his heart was going out of control so the doctors gave him this or something like this. They said they could only legally administer it twice and it failed both times. His heart slowed for a moment and then just went berserk again both times. I don’t know how they eventually got him fixed but they had specialists for each organ and the room was totally crowded with people trying to save him. Thank God in heaven he pulled through. The doctors said people absolutely do not survive what he went through and that he’s got a heart like an Ox. Praise Jesus for letting him stick around with us a while longer.

Had adenosine 3 times before my cardiac ablation. It is a very strange sensation. I consciously thought, I'm dead right now.😮
It feels like a coffin is around your body.

I've had adenosine about 6 times for SVT and its a living hell.

As a paramedic, I’ve pushed a lot of adenosine. Imagine running a full out sprint for 200 m then having your heart rate go from 190 BPM to 60 in 2 seconds. That’s adenosine.

Cant help but think of the age old line, "Have you tried turning it off then back on again?"😂

My daughter was born with congestive heart failure that resulted in SVT. It was so scary. I was on bed rest towards the end of my pregnancy and one day she wasn’t really moving and babies in utero move around a lot I just knew something was wrong I went to the hospital, they hooked me up and her heart rate was over 400 beats per minute they did an emergency c-section and since we were in Soldotna AK no NICU and she was not stable enough for medivac so the nurses and doctors worked on her for 7 hours to get her stable enough to get on a jet to get her to Anchorage. She was baby #50 in the NICU and they were able to stabilize her and put her on life support. It was the scariest few weeks I’ve ever experienced but she was a fighter and now she is 14 and healthy as can be no long lasting effects that we can tell so far. She was on medication for the SVT for the first few years of her life but nothing since then.

They did this to me last year. I was 15. I’ve had SVT since I was 10. My pulse has gotten as high as 290 beats a minute while the normal is 50-90. I’ve gone to the ER by ambulance more times than I can count. I’ve had two heart surgeries to try to correct it. The last time I went to the ER, my pulse was at 285 and had been around that level for almost an hour. They gave me this medicine in my IV to reset my heart….. it was so painful. They didn’t even tell me when they injected it. I was literally just talking to my mom and I jolted up feeling my heart stop. They put shock pads on me in case my heart wouldn’t start again. It’s horrible. It’s like someone’s choking you of oxygen. I kept gasping cause I felt like I couldn’t breathe even tho I was breathing fine. It feels like… you’re gunna die. My vision got a little blurred. I became disoriented and panicky. My ears started ringing and I just heard a bunch of distorted yelling. It was probably only around 15 seconds but it felt like forever. They restarted my heart and my heart rhythm went back to normal.
That’s definitely one experience I can never forget…..

I remember getting this in the ER once. My heart rate was so high, irregualr, and my bp was 206/121. The nurse put the medicine in my iv, and the Doctor and like 4 nurses stood at the end of my bed holding their breaths in silence. Then they had a sigh of relief and started clapping, I was so confused!! 😂
I wasn't told my heart was being stopped and restarted, until after the fact.
It was a pretty painful & scary experience, especially feeling your heart stop.

For those who are wondering, SVT means Supra-ventricular Tachycardia 😊, thanks for the explanation Doc. 👍

Huh, one time a pharmacy tech gave me some medicine that increased my heart rate enough that the doc said they may need to transfer me bc they didn’t have the shot to “cool down my heart” I guess this is what he meant

I had this and it's brutal. I had WPW while 8 months pregnant and my heart started beating out of control. Like in the 200's. It feels like your falling off a cliff and being struck by a truck all at once. Then you semi black out and come right back completely normal. It's wild

My moms heart beats twice as much as usual so she has like these wild heart “attacks” that send her heartbeat into deadly territories and in the hospital they did this to her. Apparently her heart didn’t stop but it did slow down a lot 👉👉
Please pray for my mom 🥲

I had received this for the first time ever 2yrs ago while 7 months pregnant. My heart rate randomly shot up to 200bpm while I was chilling on my couch watching tv. I called my upstairs neighbor and told her what was happening. She rushed to my apartment immediately and called the ambulance. Had a whole football team of hospital staff waiting for me lol. I was scary. I was given 2 doses cause the first one didn’t work but thankfully the 2nd dose worked. Scariest experience of my life. I was crying and one of the nurses was holding my hand the entire time and telling me I was going to be ok 😭. The doctors and nurses were heaven sent. The way they all cared for me. However, I didn’t feel weird at all or got that “dooms day” feeling like everyone else says. I felt normal during and after it being administered lol.

I'm SO glad I never needed this med. I had SVT when I was younger....I can't imagine how that would feel having your heart stopped for about 8 seconds....no thank you.

I had to have this done. The first dose didn't work and my heart rate did not come back normal. They gave me a second dose which worked. It didn't hurt but it was terrifying. I was filled with a sense of impending doom. The nurse said its the same feeling of impending doom people get when they have a heart attack. Its wasn't a physical feeling. It was a soul feeling.
