Today we’re going to talk about hair loss prevention and how to get thick hair naturally.

A common cause of hair loss is a hormonal issue involving excess DHT, which is a powerful form of testosterone. Typical medications for hair loss work by blocking DHT, but they come with side effects.

Potential side effects of hair loss medications can include decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and depression.

Excess DHT is a genetic issue for many people. Certain herbs can be beneficial to help thicken hair, but today, we’re going to cover things you can do that can keep genetic variations in check.

How to grow thicker hair naturally:
1. Address hypoxia
• Take vitamin D
• Avoid omega-6 fatty acids
• Consume omega-3 fatty acids (cod liver oil)
• Exercise
• Address anemia if applicable

2. Get plenty of vitamin D
• Take a vitamin D supplment (10,000 to 20,000 IU)

3. Take an l-lysine supplement or consume foods high in l-lysine
• Consume red meat, chicken, eggs, fish, seafood, and dairy
• Avoid nuts, grains, beans, and seeds

4. Fix insulin resistance
• Get on a low-carb diet
• Do intermittent fasting

5. Support healthy estrogen levels
• Consume phytoestrogens (flax seeds and sprouted legumes)
• Support the adrenal glands (take ashwagandha)
• Consume foods high in cholesterol

Stopped drinking and my hair started growing back. Sleeping all day, not showering, bad diet, no exercise, my hair started thinning, falling out, breaking. I'll try those 5 things

Also, Stinging Nettle. Great for blocking DHT with no effects on libido. Great for prostrate health as well.

My hair grows very slowly and i found out i was lacking in vitamin D . I also had major issues with B12 in the past and was given regular injections to get my B12 back on track. I will monitor my hair growth now as i started taking Vitamin D so it will be interesting if my hair grows. Dr Berg you are a bundle of knowledge and a genius and i really enjoy watching and learning from your videos about the body and how it works and whats good for a health body. keep up the good work. I am post menopausal. I have been taking the recommended supplements, avoiding non inflammatory foods and oils, eating keto diet and fasting. Additionally, I use pumpkin seed oil and red light therapy on my dry scalp, drink dandelion tea and lemon water for liver health. The only thing that I need to do is increase vitamin D and consume flax seeds. I resumed exercising 3 months ago. I am starting to see new growth in the areas with hair loss. 😊

Going on long walks in the sun all summer wearing no cap worked for me. The sun is highly antimicrobial and alters the chemistry of the scalp and long walks increase blood flow to the scalp. My hair was twice as thick within 3 months.

Stop (or at least significantly reduce) using shampoo and conditioner. That's my #1 suggestion. Also - thoroughly massage your scalp with your nails or use a wooden comb while you're bathing. This clears dead skin from your scalp and also increases circulation of blood.

I just wanted to add something....as you are addressing this issue you can buy a powder that will cover any balding areas....esp. for ladies. I use color wow. When I lost hair from COVID this is what I used until things started growing back. God bless you all.🙏💜🙏

This is a great video💯

We had a family friend who is a hairdresser and she cut all of our hair mom‘s dad’s mine…

And when dad started to lose his hair, he stopped brushing it and washing it. She told him it was the worst thing he could do. She said you need to wash your hair & use your fingertips to massage the shampoo to increase blood circulation in your scalp. & brush your hair everyday, for the same reason, to increase blood circulation in scalp.

I would add that massaging the scalp daily -- more than once, increases the blood flow to the scalp, especially for the areas that are lacking in hair. What you put on your scalp is also very important. No parabens, sulfates, or really anything that you can't pronounce. My almost waist length hair (at almost age 60) does not get shampooed but no more than 2x/week. I only use conditioner in between as living in humid Florida, this really helps. Shampoo will dry out the hair and make it brittle. If your hair is longer, carefully comb or brush starting at the ends and work your way up to the scalp, and not when it is soaking wet, because wet hair is easy to break. Comment date: 3/12/2023. I was a licensed Cosmetologist for way more than 25 years, so I do have knowledge base in this area. Your experience may vary. Please confer with your hairdresser as well.

Put your body in an inverted posture, such as the head stand, very safely. Increase the time in this pose slowly to 10 minutes. This apparently reduces hair loss too.

Thanks Dr Berg. I am struggling with all three of those situations: low iron, inflammation, and lack of exercise. I have lots of work to do but with the knowledge I have the power to do so. Thank you.
