The introduction was beautiful. I really do miss the early and mid 2000s for golf. It was a magnificent stretch

Best thing about the Masters is not Phil’s smile, it’s Pat Summerall’s wonderful introduction!! Nobody called Golf ⛳️& Football 🏈 like Pat!!

Definitely Phil’s most underrated and possibly most impressive, in a way, major victory. Incredible weekend leaderboard of the elite players of 06 and he was only guy able to stay steady.

Errie ball went on to live to be 103 and just passed away in 2014. 80 years after he competed in the masters. Incredible man

Phil Mickelson, Fred Couples, Ernie Els, Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh, Retief Goosen- the who's who of golf at the time all at top of the leaderboard to start the final round.

This was peak Phil. He was just coming off the PGA win at Baultsrol, he won by some ridiculous margin the week before, he wins here for 2nd consecutive Major and next up, US Open at Winged Foot. We all know what happened there. I do wonder what would’ve happened had Phil won that and won his 3rd consecutive Major. He would’ve been looked at in a whole new light. Tiger was still King and rightfully so. But Phil’s game was the closest anyone could get to that level and had he pulled that out at Winged Foot, maybe his career would’ve taken a different trajectory. Instead, it took another 3.5 years before Phil would win another Major and put the ghosts of Winged Foot behind him. However, not to take anything away from Mickelson as he had a wonderful second chapter of his career. 2010 Masters victory was so memorable with his wife Amy struggling through cancer. Muirfield in ‘13 to win an Open nobody thought he’d get. And of course last year winning another PGA and capping his career with his 6th Major. An all-time legend.

What a privilege to have been a young man during this great era of golf. Tiger and Phil were the Dale Earnhardt and Jeff Gordon of the golf world.

Best opening in the history of the Masters. Just incredible.

Phil's drive on 18 went 337 into a fairway that slopes uphill nearly the entire way, and no one says a word...this was 16 years ago, mind you.

I don't know how anyone could thumb down this video it's some of the best coverage of any golf tournament ever on the other hand Fred Couples needs to throw his putter in the creek and Putt with a 9-iron LOL thanks for the vid content

I had just watched the 2004 Masters, Phil's first, always thinking that was my favorite Masters of all time, but everyone struggled on the front 9 of that tournament, including Phil, before he made the run on the back nine.
This really was his more impressive performance. He was just solid throughout, no bogies until the final hole, when it didn't matter anymore. And what a leaderboard! Everyone going up and down except for Phil who just held steady and then pulled away from the field at the end.

There’s something extra special when a family surrounds the Masters Champion. The unconditional love ❤️ that’s shared. I experienced the unconditional love of family members when I crossed the finish line of the New York City Marathon. The long walk through the family reunion area was extra special for me. My coming from a troubled family where unconditional love wasn’t frequently experienced, made finishing the NYC Marathon which I did thirteen times, an extra special memorable moment . That I carry with me through my life experience.
