Tiger once said the best shot he ever hit (and I agree) was a 3-iron from a bunker, ball well below his feet, tree semi in play in front of the bunker. All this into a stout wind from about 210, uphill. Hazeltine, 2002 PGA Championship. Hits a draw from that lie to about 20 feet, makes the putt. Ernie Els was playing with Tiger, saw the shot, says "F**k me--how am I supposed to compete with that?".

I was 14 and standing green side. Will never forget it. Have played it a number of times since. I’m a decent golfer and always drop a ball there to see how close I can get. Never been remotely close to crossing the water.

Fred Couples and Ken Griffey Jr. Two great Americans and two of the sweetest swings in all of sports.

The bunker shot on #16 at Augusta during The Masters that stopped at the top of the hole for a split second, then fell in the hole.

With the slope of the green, the pressure of the situation, late in the 4th round...THAT was his greatest shot ever, to me!

I've been watching golf for 55 years and tiger's shot there is the best I've ever seen.

Had this exact shot from about tue same spot playing the back tees. Managed to put it on the front part of the green with a Taylormade raylor. The fact he used a 6 iron and went at the flag is on a level most golfers will never understand. Tiger had power reserves that he would unleash from time to time without losing precision.

Definitely the greatest shot I’ve ever seen on live TV. People who don’t golf can’t comprehend just how difficult and therefore just how incredible the shot was.

Don't sell yourself so short, Fred. I'm a former class A, and when I've had this discussion, I always say " The hole out for par Couples made on the 17th at Sawgrass after hitting one in the water."

I watched that shot live. Wasn’t even surprised to see it, you just knew. Like watching MJ in the playoffs. You just knew.

When i played glen abbey last summer I hit my drive into the exact position tiger was in here. It was kind of a surreal moment and everything in my mind said to go for it. I had a 5 iron in hand lined up to hit it but I needed a birdie to shoot under par that round.. right as I was about to swing I pulled back and decided the risk wasn't worth it. I grabbed a 7 iron and decided to lay up left of the water. Little did I know the landing area had a HEAVY slope that fed into the water. I made great contact and it was heading for the middle of the fairway. It was getting dark so I didn't watch it finish. When I got up to the spot I thought it would be I couldn't find it and it obviously rolled in. I dropped a ball and hit it onto the green and 3 putt for a double bogey.. still to this day i think that was karma for not trying to recreate this shot

I wish Freddie would play a Skins match every weekend. We wouldn't need LIV or the PGA.

I still say the Hazeltine 3 iron bunker shot was better. Standing on the lip, ball way below his feet, into the wind, needs to immediately get over tall trees and he knocks it to 10 feet. Best shot I've ever seen in terms of difficulty. I don't think anyone else ever could've hit that shot.
