Mine has two different pouches that act as adjustments for the placement of the hinges. Should the be beside my knee joint or toward the front?

When you straighten your leg, are the hinges supposed to be completely straight? My hinges don’t straighten all the way and I’m worried that it won’t prevent hyperextension

My knee can't go fully straight due to swelling and pain, I'm waiting to do a MRI but doctor wanted new to wear this brace until results come in. Is it ok to have the knee bent and put the brace on?
