Reverse osmosis consumes massive quantities of electricity, which comes from polluting sources in many countries

How about distilling the water by boiling then putting in minerals to give it a good taste.

I used to live on an island where this was the way they provided water to households, My skin was always as clean as a baby's tail lol

This will eventually have to become a necessity everywhere on coastal cities. I am surprised that this is not pushed hard. I would say that this should take priority over the EV scam.

Why don't they talk about the brine that they have to dump back into the ocean ?

Eventually this will have a huge impact on the oceans. No matter how hard they try likely millions of sea creatures are being killed. Plus what impact will all that salt and brine have wherever it ends bring put?

Could of been much easier if you just boiled the water. Helps in separation

I'm sure they're downplaying the negative effects on the environment

I had an idea of using the Earths natural termal vents build and dome above it and then pump in seas water using the termal extreme heat to boil the water then collecting the steam too use as drinking water ... In therory i believe its 96 % environmentally friendly
