When you break down those final lyrics its so beautiful he says he’s quiet and pensive meaning he’s in deep thought, his brain apprehensive meaning he’s fearful of whats to come… So he’s not necessarily happy he’s leaving but he’s ready to try and become the man he believes he can be and it go’s back to the earlier verse “this time I was King not just one more pawn” So few words but they mean so much absolutely beautiful❤️

I listened to a lot of classic rock radio in middle school. I'm from Georgia, USA, which means I sat through a LOT of Skynard and Allman Bros waiting for something more my style. It was this song that would make me jump up and turn it up, particularly. This and The Boys are Back in Town. Great era and it's come along with me into the future!
