I’d be interested in hearing more about Procreate for note taking, it doesn’t seem like a natural match.

1. NS2 2. GN5 3. Notability. To annotate (incl. make notes) and edit PDF: PDF-7 Had already paid for 3 important in-app additional features before subscription model. Subscription features, no need at this point. If ever it came to that, no!!! But would have trouble finding a better annotating/editing PDF app. Also, Readdle is superb app dev cie. Lastly, Procreate installed on iPad. Heard it is just brilliant software. Never thought of using it as note-talking app though. Might be interesting. And all of this? C’est vrai.

Procreate is really a great application
I would like to know if you have to write each page and then individually export them to make a notebook in another app or you can create a notebook with many pages in it just like GoodNotes. Can you export a series of pages to form a pdf or you have to export each page
I really like your videos . A detailed video on how you could use procreate would be very helpful. Thank you

Love this review! Thanks to you, I didn't waste my time watching other 20 videos about like 5 apps, that you actually covered in here.
Also, very simple yet straight to the point. Thanks again!

Currently I'm using OneNote as my only note taking app as I juggle between windows pc, android phone and ipad mini 5. I use the desktop to export my notes but once in a blue moon depending on the purpose. The only issue I have is the pdf import. The app will slowdown or crash especially for large pdf files, it converts into images which reduces the quality.
Oh and of course the biggest reason I'm using OneNote that its free! XD

A review of Procreate as a note taking app would be fine. It allows layers and is a really pro application. Thank you.

I use three apps of your list : Notability, Zoomnotes and Onenote. I mainly use Notability (that I use since iPad 3rd Gen) for my work such as note taking during the meeting or during the seminar because the app have the most easy interface to use. For Zoomnotes, I mainly use it for rough note taking that I don't need to rush because the interface that doesn't allow user change to the new page automatically. I also use this app when I want to prepare something in PDF file. I have to say, in this app, it's very easy to do any writing in PDF file. Also, I really like the option "Infinity white board" in the Zoomnotes because you can do a brainstroming in it without buying a new app. I do agree with you that the interface of this app is too outdated and not friendly to the user. I hope the developper will update it soon. The last one is Onenote, it's one of the oldest note taking app I have since iPad 3rd Gen. I mainly use the app to take non-serious note, touriste information, vocabulary or some idea that suddenly pop into my head when I can't use my iPad, I will use this app in my android phone then organize or edit them later in iPad. It's quite useful in it's own way :)

Thanks for the code. I would love to see a review of procreate and how you use it for note taking. I am by no means artistic but I am an educator and would love ideas on apps that would help make my notes and slides more fun and student friendly.

You should add Flexcil to the list. To my mind it is really underrated app if comes to pdf annotation and note taking with referencing your notes directly to the text you got them from. I’m working with many scientific papers on a regular basis and with Flexcil I can always grab some text or clip image or note some idea and reference it to the actual paper, in addition to all the highlighting and other stuff you can do with pdf. I tried Liquidtext and Marginote but really stayed with Flexcil.

The dermatology "notes" seen on Notability made me wonder if you ever tried or reviewed mind mapping apps on the iPad, such as Mindnode or SimpleMind.

Thank you Ropsie, great work!

If you swipe from left to right in notability, You can use split view with literally any ratio of them

What about Flexcil? To me it looks the best regarding studying on a pdf and taking notes/making schemes from it (with that page hovering over the pdf). It lacks many cool features that LiquidText has (such as that linking and arrowing system) but it lets you export a decent final PDF file (unlike LiquidText with that crazy endless canvas that is just too complicated to export in a simple notebook page format).

It's still Notability here for me, my handwriting looks surprisingly good in it and it is simple to use, which is what I want when taking notes.

You can use notability in split screen view from within the app itself, from within a note swipe from the left of the screen inside and you will see a noteswitcher. from there you can press the 3 dots and choose 'show left / show right'.

I do think notability is great, but somehow I think my notes look nicer on Goodnotes, I think part of that is that notability does not support marking behind the text, which I think looks less good.
