For the last few months I've been doing swings like this to warm up before doing hamstring stretches (touching toes etc) and it definitely helps! I also practice touch toes close to a wall so I can lean my back onto the wall for a deeper stretch. Then I can still stretch deeper when I leave the wall. I also do leg swings between and after stretches to pump blood into my muscles. It all helps. Let's not forget that the backward part of the swing stretches the hip flexors, which tend to be tight especially if you spend a lot of time sitting .

Thank god we aren’t given videos for at-home workouts like this, or else we’d be seeing plenty of inappropriate comments al the time.

The flexed foot is good, but so is relaxing the ankle so the kinetic force can pass all the way through the leg.

This is actually a ankle mobility exercise, you need to be on your toes. Don’t feel bad this exercise is done improperly by almost everybody.
