I got multiple Lords of Plagues, I got multiple Cairn Wraiths, I got multiple Necromancers... why?

I did not expect EonsOfBattle to feature in a Tabletop Minions Video for 3 seconds, but here we are, haha

I love that you called it a "Pile of Potential". I refer to mine as the "Pile of Possibilities".
And yes, multiple boxes of one and the same model, especially the old ones (pewter), some of which are simply my favorites because they remind me of how I got into the hobby.
Have a great hobbying weekend ahead, y'all!

Sometimes I sell my minis on Ebay, buy a new army and I buy exactly the same thing I sold on Ebay and I wonder to myself, "was that the same person who I sold to back then that I've just bought from ?"

Gryph-hounds from Aos are that thing for me. I could paint them over and over again. I magnetise the heads so I can mix and match those too. I just love them. Thanks for making me feel like I can share this 😂

I think I watched my first tabletop minions video when I was like 12 and now I’m 20! I remember seeing your videos in the suggested tab after watching some miniwargaming AoS batrep and I was always so daunted by the hobby as a whole but your beginner friendly vibe and viewpoint helped me make the jump into a hobby that has been such a blessing in my life, and I can’t thank you enough for doing that, for me and for the countless other people who you have helped decide to join the hobby in one way or another.

The Tzaangor Shaman is my comfort mini, Adam. Don't feel bad we all have one.

I have several minis like this, I’ve bought several older pewter models from my youth to repaint with current skills. I have multiple copies of the 6th Chaos Marine Aspiring Champion, each converted to a different god of chaos and one undivided. It’s the model that turned my loyalist heart to the wonders of the warp. I’ve bought and converted 4 different versions of Typhus as well. This is an excellent video

Adam on stream: " I wouldn't talk about new Killteam being bad Killteam"
Adam in the next video: "Btw. Here is my cool kt18 project that was ruined by kt21"

Kinda justified. Your ork is cool af and I was stunned when I saw it back in the day. Hope that your will play with him in the OPR.

Thanks for shouting out Dragon Fall. That event deserves more exposure.

I only buy dupes for the purposes of adding or expanding units. My mountain is already so full of minis (including lots of interesting characters) I'd love to paint and bits for kitbashing that buying more of a given character seems silly.

Despite my love of big armies, If given the chance I'd almost always prefer to paint something new.

I started in the hobby recently though a magazine subscription for Sigmar. Since the first issues were cheaper I bought them 3 times. My reasoning was to use them to get better at painting. It worked (I'd say) painting the same model allows for experimentation and improvement

Great video! You love the hobby, you enjoy playing and painting, you support the hobby through playing, attending conventions, and buying products from the manufacturers- you are why the hobby continues to exist- without you, many manufacturers would disappear before a new gamer ever gets to enter the hobby- a definite ALPHA gamer!

Can’t really describe how much your videos have gotten me through the last month. Really enjoying this new hobby and especially watching your videos. Cheers!

I have 20-24 Kastelan Robots, 16+ still on the sprue. I just love the goofy lil guys, and like to build one every so often. You may judge me. I will not be taking questions at this time 🤪

Ambots are absolutely one of the best kits GW has come out with. They give you two extra pairs of legs in each box. I made myself a whole set of more mechanical obliterators with them.

Bloodthirsters are my muse. I have all of them and I’m considering getting more to get more creative with. Skarbrand is what set it off. I did such an amazing job on it I didn’t want to finish it because it kind of made me sad. So I set him aside 99.999% completed and started going through bloodthirsters with different tones and colors for the skin and wings, some with all armor some with the bare minimum. I just love them I don’t know why.

Another positive of having more of the same: experimentation and not putting off painting it or modifying it out of fear of not choosing the «right» mod or the «right» paint scheme - if I only have *one* of a thing I might do *nothing* if I feel uncertain it’s the «right» thing

Those ambot minis are so good for orks! I bought three packs to make a full unit of converted meganobz, the meganob weapons that you get plenty spare of fit very well on them with minimal chopping and changing. I don't tend to buy lots of copies of the same mini for conversion fodder, but I do have a tendency to hoard commemorative models that GW put out, and a lot of them end up being used in conversions.

One thing I quickly picked up from Adam Savage, is to always have materials and supplies on hand for when inspiration strikes. Nothing will kill your momentum for an exciting project faster than having to search for, find, buy, and wait for a bunch of stuff. At the same time, I realized one of my biggest inhibitions to building or painting a model was 'but what if I screw it up'. Not to mention, I'd always get the most inspiration for what to do with a model kit, while I was building it. This prompted me to generally buy more than one of a kit; I'd feel safe knowing I had a spare if I screwed something up, and if another cool idea strikes that required me to do something different from the start, I could immediately start on it. It's been a huge help for me actually building and painting models to buy spares.

I've since found out that several modelers (especially professional modelers, who build for museums, commissions, or the like) I know on youtube or elsewhere do exactly the same thing. Especially if it's a more niche model that may cease production (I bought several duplicates of Bandai's Star Wars vehicles, for example). I follow a few professional modelers who will go buy a stack of a particular kit if it strikes them, using the extras to try different methods on certain sections, or as backups when inevitably something goes wrong. This is often because they are altering or improving the model itself.. either kitbashing it into something new, or just making changes to increase its accuracy.

So, because of all this, I always buy the same kits. More often for vehicles than figures.. but figures are certainly not immune. For example, I've bought at least 3 Storm Ravens. Maybe 4? I hate the Storm Raven as it's supposed to be built.. but the shape is immensely inspiring for conversions for me. Just look at the Storm Eagle and Fire Raptor. I'm currently designing and building a transport variant, of it, like the Sky Talon (RIP), which has me wanting to buy yet another kit so I can try my hand at something more akin to a Storm Eagle. On top of this, I have an actual Fire Raptor kit, and have been impatiently waiting for another Storm Eagle production run. The Baneblade, Imperial Knights, Valkyrie and other kits fall into this bucket as well.

But in summary, if you haven't, consider buying duplicates of your next kit. You may realize how much it helps your modeling anxiety, inspiration, and if nothing else, add some fun parts to your bits box.

Lord of Plague is an awesome mini. I’ve painted one for an event that was being run at my now closed GW store and thoroughly enjoy painting him. Would like to pick another one and paint him again as I’ve now bought some glazes and been trying them out. Lords of Blights is also awesome and might just to pick one of them up.

This is the old box dreadnought for me. I bought two of them before they got discontinued, a venerable, an ironclad, 3x blood angels, 2x space wolves (need one more), and some... er... "extremely similar to discontinued FW model" dreadnoughts. (I'd prefer to buy them legitimately but GW hasn't made that possible in years so...). They're all BASICALLY the same thing, but I just love all the little details and customisation you can do on them and have them all painted differently for different chapters. I need to buy one of the new Dark Angels units so I can get the new transfer sheet to decorate a couple of mortis dreadnoughts with DA successor chapter icons.
